Our other 2nd overall pick is getting flamed in that other thread, but Lonzo is barely holding on to his starting spot.

He's averaging 6/5/5 on 32/26/75 in 22 minutes because he's been getting benched every 4th quarter in his last 5 games.

He's gonna have to prove he's worth investing into longterm too.

So he had a stretch of bad shooting games and still found ways to contribute.

Half of his career is a srtretch of bad shooting games. If that continues, and he continues to not play the 4th it’s going to be a problem

I agree. Luckily he’s already shooting better and Luke’s gotta come to his senses eventually.

He’s 60 something games into his career and has one of the best feels for the game we’ve seen in a player his age and is as unselfish as they come and is only worried about winning. He’s gonna be damn good, it might just take some time with the glaring holes in his game. He already showed a lot of growth in two big weaknesses in his game over an offseason where he had knee surgery. Let’s give him a little time maybe?

It takes time for point guards to establish themselves especially now that we are at least a relevant team. Raw stats in a mediocre team means little and I know a lot fans get caught with that like it’s baseball. One player can have so much impact on the game of basketball and that’s what Zo bring to the table, those little things and intangibles.

The fact that Zo is already one of best defensive guard out there in his rookie year is very encouraging. There’s no denying that he has a lot of glaring holes on his offense but he’s not that kind of player, iso type scorer. That’s why there’s a lot of disconnect here because folks just can’t appreciate his unique skill set.

I have to say though that his effort has not been consistent this year. He is mentally fragile too( not Fultz disturbing mental though) and shy away from contacts.

This would all be resolved if Magic Johnson would just start some LG polls on what players he should keep and which he should get rid of.

Everyone wins!

Final result would be: trade everyone, build around Bonga.

Nah, Bonga would have already been cut and shipped back to Germany after that first SL game if polls on LG had management power.

Man his confidence is so low, he went 3-5 from 3 overall today but because he got blocked a few times and missed his last 3, he declined to shoot a wide open 3 off a pass from LeBron. Can't wait til he remembers he's legitimately a good 3 point shooter lol

Dame 8-23. Shot 13 FTs. Most of them not on ZO as he had only 4 fouls and one was offensive.

Good shooting, good D, but it bothers me the way they're using him as mostly as a spot-up shooter. A player with his passing and court vision needs to have the ball in his hands more.

A season hovering around 40% might help. He's at around 38 right now

Yeah it's a process. I'm encouraged. His defense on Dame was absolutely smothering today.

I don’t remember Lillard scoring on Lonzo beyond one sequence where Lillard did a great change of pace attack while rejecting the screen that Zo thought he was going to use, which caused Zo to trip and foul him. Other than that, Lillard only scored if Zo got screened off of him or if the refs gave him ticky tack calls for free fts.

He's looking more spry. I hope he can become a better finisher than Fisher.

He had like 3 deflections too that could have ended up as steals but lucky bounces sent the ball roght to Blazer players.

Still think he's not 100% yet. Hopefully mid November.

I know this doesn't get talked about.
But how many screens did he set today for scores?
Seemed like a bunch.

Still wish he would shoot more. If Lonzo hadn’t passed up so many passes from LeBron, LeBron would’ve had like 12 assists.

Him screening for Lebron has been a very effective play for us recently. He had a couple of screens for other guys that freed them up for Lebron passes to finish too.

I like to see Lonzo drive more to the basket, but he can't put up that weak easy to block (bleep) that no surprise, gets blocked.
