Unfortunately he's vastly overrated only in this thread.

It's too bad BigHameJames isn't the Pels GM, he would have given us AD and Julis (back) for just Lonzo.

It’s funny how all our young players are overrated until we trade them away. If we drafted Harden, PG13, Kawhi, Curry or Klay they would have been traded by year 3. Those guys all took years to develop into all stars. They weren’t instant winners.

Right now we had Dlo just became a 22 year old All Star PG. Julius isn’t too far behind and we could really use them right now. No our guys are not all stars right now, but they’re on their way.

Thing about this franchise is they obsess over star/name players especially this FO. As a hardcore Laker fan, just accept it

I agree with you, but this is not uncommon or limited to Ball. I recall the few games Ingram was out in the beginning of the season for the fight, he went from a 21 year old developing wing to a candidate for league MVP....similar overrating happened while Rondo was out. It is the Backup QB Syndrome....when a player is not on the field, fans focus mostly on the good things they do; In contrast, when a player is on the field, fans focus mostly on the bad things they do.

I don't know if it's cause this season has been disappointing too but this tweet is my favorite Lakers related moment of the season

Ball is not being overrated. He was our defensive hear and soul. It was obvious to anyone watching the games and it's backed up by his absence. His half court traditional playmaking before he got hurt was starting to soar and was truly reminding me of Jason Kidd on both ends for the first time.

I actually don't mind losing our young players, even if they turn into all-stars. But if we're going to lose them, is sure as hell better be for All-NBA type players.

Unfortunately for us.... that hasn't been the case. We lose them for nothing.

I think our defense going to (bleep) without him is increasing his defensive value yeah, but sure think whatever you want to think.

Both Ball and BI do most everything well except shoot the basketball, and piss on their free throws. In a few years, yeah maybe they will be better. But for now, they just need to be good role players and 3-5th options on the court.

If the Lakers do land their big fish, I think it helps whichever of the two players is here. The difference is, I think Ball would be more than comfortable to just be a facilitator, play good defense and contribute boards, assists, and chippies at 10 ppg. BI I think would have a harder time accepting that role, which is good, you need scorers, but you need scorers who can shoot.

Ball I think at least knows who he is and will fit either being a PG with a great with a great scoring SG, or let a great PG do the scoring, and he'll play the defensive SG.

Yup both Zo's skillset and mindset lend themselves to being a more effective role player next to legit superstars than BI.

It's been 4 weeks...

I would not expect him back anytime soon. If he's back by April, I'd be happy...and surprised.

That'd be hilarious and another mark against our medical staff.

Initially they said 4-6 weeks; April would be nearly 12 weeks depending on the day.

Harden - Sixth Man of the Year (Year 3)
George - Most Improved Player (Year 3)
Curry - 1st Team All Rookie
Kawhi - 1st Team All Rookie
Klay - 1st Team All Rookie

None of our recent young guys - DLo, Randle, BI have shown that. Zo & Kuz are still in year 2, so maybe they have a shot. A loooooooooooooong shot.

Come on Lonzo, we need ya boy!!! Come back and step up.
Seriously though, Lonzo does so many things well but to really be an impact player he will need to average at least 15 ppg. The rest of the stuff comes easy for him. Its his consistent scoring that can make him amazing.

Like being a father, a son, a rapper, a businessman?

He has far too many distractions away from basketball that prevent him from improving his NBA skills...
