Basically everything except ISO play...that's all Ingram.
Basketball is a team sport and Lonzo is one of the best team players in the NBA already.
Unless Ingram becomes one of the most dominant ISO players in history, he's destined to become a dime-a-dozen High Usage scorer...aka D'Angelo Russell. _________________ Build around team players, not ISO players. |

Ingram is already on his way to being a reliable pro. All he needs to do is stay healthy and keep working on his game.
There's something about Lonzo that really bothers me sometimes. He seems soft, and when you combine that with the immense hype around him and especially his dad, he almost seems to have this spoiled child complex or something.
I hope I'm reading too much into this, because I love his defense, passing and ability to uptempo the game, but his soft, non-chalant attitude is off-putting to me.
Ingram has a similar personality, but on the court he takes inititive and asserts himself offensively consistently, so with him it doesn't come off badly. _________________ Lakers 49ers Chargers Dodgers |

I like his impact on winning.
I don't like his number of games played.
We need men, not boys...I hope he is ready to be a reliable pro this upcoming season if he isn't gone. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

I think you underestimate Ingram too much. He has above average defensive and passing skill for his position and there is no indication that he can’t get better. Lonzo’s offense is too raw and he needs a lot of improvement on that area. They are different types of players. If you build a team around Ingram, you only need to surround him with good role players but you need to pair Lonzo with a star scorer to make a deep run in the playoff. |

One of the best team players in the NBA is not true at all. Just cause he sucks in scoring and has to use his efforts in defense, doesn't mean he's one of the best team players in the NBA.
Lonzo isn't a good scorer, halfcourt player, therefore he's not sacrificing much.
IF Lonzo was anywhere near young Rubio in terms of setting up offense in the halfcourt, I would be advocating for Lonzo since day 1, but he ain't...
He has those strengths you listed above, but he's a PG........
That can't shoot, can't dribble, and can't play halfcourt. |

Looking at Kawhi I'm not too scared about Lonzos offense. It seems players can learn offense but not so much defense. |

Calling Lonzo one of the best team players in the NBA already, is code for
"Any production that can be measured he's not very good at, so let's instead praise the things we can't measure...like intangibles."
We don't need "team players", we need productive, net positive players, in particular on the offensive side of the ball that produce and contribute to wins.
I will say though, Lonzo is currently on track to be a first ballot "team player" hall of famer. He might be the youngest Laker to ever do so, you know, younger than our previous first ballot "team player" hall of famer, Luke Walton. Luke's "team player-ness" was off the charts. I mean, have we had a better "team player" since Luke?

Good stuff.
I'm not sure about the HOF yet.
Once he shows improvement next year he might.
But love the optimism. |

I agree, another season like the last 2, and you can't deny he's a sure fire first ballot "team player".
He replicates last season, and I think he gets his jersey hung next to Luke Walton's in our El Segundo facility. Let's just hope the jerseys are still up at El Segundo.

When you have stars, finding players who are impact without needing the ball are gold. Most commonly that is done by shooting or being a great defender while being well rounded. Lonzo is unique in that he facilitates offensively without being ball dominant. He’s definitely a sum greater than your parts player. If you pair him with star power, that becomes special. You started to see it as he was getting comfortable with Bron.
If LA keeps him while adding Davis, it could be special. |
