Just so you guys know, I recall someone mentioning (not sure who) that Ball gets better game by game, he got better from HS to College even though the level of competition was greater so if we go with that notion his Summer league stats won't mean squat and he will put up even greater numbers.

That's essentially why people think he can make a great impact right away.

He'll make an impact because he will be an immediate starter. However he will surely have NBA growing pains. But in time;....... he could be a great one.

If NBA growing pains makes him even better then I will take it

I don't think a rookie Ball is going to be any worse than what we had in recent past. It may take a while to learn how to play defense, but he is not taking the place of any defensive savant to be concerned. Without Lou, Nick and others we can end up as a better defensive team than last season.

I think the Lakers will make the playoffs with the current team built. After watching summer league I'm hopefully this is what will happen.
If that funny looking 3 ball starts popping like it did for him in college(when he was shooting nba ranged 3's) Then I can easily see those numbers or better. the court will be spread.

I remember reading he only shot something like 30% from nba distance 3 though. That, and his sub-par free throw %, have me a bit concerned about his shooting at the next level.

I don't think that's true but here's his shot chart https://www.reddit.com/r/lakers/comments/6hut4p/lonzo_balls_college_shot_chart/

Someone posted that it was 34% but I'm not sure how deep those were

It was 34%, which is a good percentage for any prospect coming out of college. And yes, a lot of those were from deep. I'm not concerned. The kid works hard on his game and being on the court with better ball handlers than he's used to, he's going to be wide open on a majority of his shot attempts. I expect him to be a good threat from 3 for most of his career.

If he hit 30% from 3 while having a defender guarding him while doing a step back. I'll take that. that tells me that catch and shoot should be money. the catch and shoot wide open 3's were airballs to bricks to in and outs during the spl. no rhyme or reason why.

The different nba ball, less grip than college ball. A lot of shooters take a while to get use to the nba ball.

I come with good news. Lonzo's been at the facility essentially every night since coming back. Brothers too occasionally with him.

So good news on that end

I'm predicting 13 points 7 assists 5 rebounds on 42/36/75

I don't think he'll have a slow start, I think he'll come out like he's meant to be a star. He'll hit some rookie struggles along the way but for the most part I think he'll impress this season.

I think he'll end up with around 7-15 points most games, some where his three is falling and everything is going for him and some where he just couldn't get a bucket to save his life.

I think his assists and rebounds will be pretty consistent and he'll look like a natural point guard, he'll have a few games where his passing game looks really great and some games where he has 5 turnovers.

Defense will be a work in progress, he won't be great and might even be really bad for the majority of the season.

LaVar thinks he's already better then Curry, now if that isn't setting the bar high I don't know what is, he also probably thinks he's better then LeBron which he did allude to when he was interviewed by Chris Broussard....

He needs to deliver from day 1 or he's gonna hear it.

wow, that's insane

19 year old Lebron wasn't even close to current Lebron or Curry.

He has a 19 year old body.

He hasn't faced the full grind of a season, the road travels, the temptations on the road, etc.

He's just a kid.

His dad is a idiot, this is why I'm kinda worried that there is gonna be a lot of melt downs if he doesn't deliver like his crazy dad is predicting.
