The former Soundgarden frontman has died suddenly at 52. Damn.

Same here. Of course they are probably best known for "Black Hole Sun", but I always loved the song "Fell On Black Days."

Dude...this.

Dang, I read a men's health magazine interview with him a few years back and he (at the time) got hard core into fitness/mountain biking and a healthy lifestyle. Gawd...

Spoonman was dope. Loved the riff.

One of the rock's best vocalists. Damn, I was listening to Temple of the Dog's Hunger Strike in the car yesterday.

Great song. I always lived his cover of Michael Jackson's Billy Jean.

Wow. Just heard about this on the telly in the background. Guy had great pipes.

Outshined
Black Hole Sun
Spoonman
Fell On Black Days
The Day I Tried To Live
Rusty Cage

Soundgarden had as many hits or near hits as any other alt/grunge band of the day, Nirvana, Pumpkins, Pearl Jam. Gen X is old. Cobain might've died of an accidental overdose by this point. Cornell, Cobain and Layne Staley of Alice In Chains were three of the four most distinctive voices of that era, to include Eddie Vedder. This is a more surprising one because he was in to fitness and modeling and that there. Not your typical waify, strung out addict grunger.

Yeah, I guess he used to have an addiction problem but had been sober for a long time. We'll find out soon enough what the cause of death was.

He definitely was one of the most talented singers of his kind. I thought he was a fantastic vocalist.

This sucks. I'm shocked beyond words.

I'm a huge fan of those bands. Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains, Soundgarden... Been listening to them my whole life. It sucks to see them going so young, one after the other.

(bleep) bummer. Blasting Louder Than Love right now. RIP Chris

What a loss, I was a huge fan from Soundgarden to Audioslave. Will be missed.

He was an amazing singer and great front man. Saw Soundgarden at Lollapalooza when they were were coming up, which I just realized was 25 years ago.

I am shocked and pretty damn upset by this one.

http://www.bbc.com/news/entertainment-arts-39960066

BBC is reporting that it's being investigated as a possible suicide...

Quote:
A spokesperson for Detroit Police confirmed to the BBC that they received a call just after midnight (05:00 BST).

"He was found on the bathroom floor, our medical unit were called and he was pronounced dead on scene," a spokesperson said.

"A family friend went to go check on him and observed him on the bathroom floor. The body was transferred to the medical examiner's office and the cause of death will be determined.

"It is being investigated as a possible suicide."

Terrible news to wake up to today.

Two of Grunge Rock's founding fathers, Layne Staley (Alice in Chains) and Chris Cornell (Soundgarden) are somewhere singing this incredible song again, in peace.

RIP.

Omg this one stings. Always loved CC, amazing pipes, amazing performer, love the early Soundgarden stuff, other than Alice in Chains, there was not another band from the Seattle grunge scene that I Liked more. Such a unique and gifted vocalist. Will be cranking Some Badmotorfinger really loud today in his honor. Damn

RIP
