Man, Sam Smith has really, really lost his touch. Aging like Melo on this one. |

Hope this is a misguided attempt to be provocative and get attention.
I so hate this trade proposal! |

Jrue is a guy who is fool's gold.
While he is a good player and seemingly a good guy also, he simply gets hurt way too much to count on for a full NBA season.
If you sign him, you are basically getting a part time player. |
I agree, but trading Russell and waiting on Ball to develop into a good NBA PG is throwing away at least the next two years of PG13's prime. |

I would be thrilled if the Lakers could sign Holiday. Still plays at a high level despite the injuries. And guard depth would be a team strength.
Holiday/ Russell/ Clarkson/ possibly Ball is interchangeable, depth to cover those eventual injuries and would be dynamic on the court.
What would Holiday sign for though? Can they keep him in the $20-25M range? Less is better of course but I am trying to be realistic. |

Will be looking forward to Woj's thoughts on the Lakers this summer, as he will finally be on the ins with the new FO. For now he thinks we're holding on to our assets, so that's a good thing. Hope it stays that way. |

I would do it if they add Myles Turner and we add #28
Turner is very good modern big. He would solve all our problems at Center
Ball(28)/Clarkson(10)/Ennis(10)
Clarkson(20)/Ingram(10)Nwaba(18)
PG(28)/Ingram(20)
Nance(24)/Turner(16)/PG(8)
Turner(20)/Mozgov(16)/Zubac(12)
We can stretch Mozgov next season and go after Westbrook or Wall. |

I like Jrue's game a lot, and his lower leg issues seem to be behind him, but I don't think there's a reason to pay a premium for him if they have Ball and Russell to develop. I'd like a defensive upgrade from JC, but $20-25M is a ton of money to commit to a guy you want Ball to eventually start over - it's a very Mitch move.
If they foolishly trade Russell and Randle for PG13 though, I think Holiday becomes almost a necessity:
Holiday/Ennis?
Ball/Clarkson/Nwaba
Ingram
PG13/Nance
Moz/Zu/Black
Ehh... |

I agree with you. The dumbest thing I have heard in a while, and there's been a lot of dumb non basketball stuff going around. DLO & Randle are not easily attainable. The writer should get better sources. A trade like that will make us the Pacers of the West. So probably a first round sweep if we are lucky. Plus George, Russell, & Randle all share the same agent. I'm sure he'd rather have them in the LA market. |

Actually its quite similar to what i post in another threads
People keep saying we can get PG for nothing...well, first its not nothing
For the package mentioned. Its
1. $18m in cap space for Deng
2. $12m in cap between Russell and Randle
3. $10m in cap space between PG cap hold vs signing him as FA
So that's $40m in extra cap roughly + PG for Russell, Randle and Deng in 2018
Then we all assume we can get PG in 2018. Well, what if Indiana plays well in 2017-18 and make it far into playoff, PG gets to be on all NBA team... Now the Pacers can pay him $200+/5 vs. the $130/4 we can pay him. The pressure to stay on a good playoff team would also be tremendous on PG. So its not "guarantee" we get him 2018, its far from it |

Curious
What's so good about Dennis Smith Jr?
Can't see any reason he should be in consideration for top 5, let alone top 2. |

I don't see anyone like Ingram and Ball at Pacers and obv no chance of getting Wall/Westbrook to Pacers. |

If I understand correctly, signing PG in 2018 would leave us no cap space. Trading for him while clearing Deng allows us $18 million, plus PG's Bird Rights save us $14.3 if the trade happens before the 2018 trade deadline. So the trade would really be DLo and Randle for Miles and cap flexibility.
If we keep DLo, we either have to extend him in 2018, or lose him for pennies on the dollar the way Philly did with Noel. He doesn't affect our cap, but the standard for him would be raised in terms of performance after an extension. After we extend him, he would be harder to trade, and the MozDeng albatross would still be weighing us down. |

Didn't know about the cap hold difference, even better than I thought.
PG may not even need to win a round next year to get third team honors. With the Bulls crumbling, Butler may not be in a good situation to be all-NBA again. Had Durant been healthy all season, does Green make it this year? He probably gets fewer votes. Of course if AD is classfied as a forward next year its probably moot, but New Orleans may move DMC before the deadline. |

He doesn't have to be extended in 2018. He's under contract through 2019/2020. Extend him then. |
