My daughter gets recruiting advertisements for Universities in Chicago and she never gets to see them as they go right in the trash...

U of C is a (bleep) great school and the area isn't too bad.

Northwestern is perfectly safe and a damned fine school.

I thought most crime in Chicago was on the south side. Is the city as a whole getting a bad rap?

I'm not sure. That was the point of my opening flurry of posts. There's something about this that doesn't seem quite right. The crime situation in Chicago has gotten politicized.

Thanks for the link. This is what I'm talking about. Why all of this focus on Chicago in particular? I smell politics and partisanship. I'm not going to get into politics on this board, but if you're inclined to do so, you can look at some of the stats in that article and connect the dots.
