I really don't know whether this is a big deal or not. However, it seemed to come out of nowhere. Four Arab countries just severed diplomatic ties with Qatar, claiming that Qatar sponsors terrorism: Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Bahrain, and UAE.

Are they still hosting the World Cup in 2022? Or was that pulled?

As best I can tell, this is some sort of power play by Saudi Arabia to force Qatar into the anti-Iran bloc. "Supporting terrorism" in this context seems to be a way of saying "supporting Iran." Trump's name is being tossed around, but I'm not convinced that this really has much to do with the U.S. This looks more like an economic blockade than anything that is likely to result in military action.
