if the Lakers trade DLo it's because they don't believe in him - there are reasons that may or may not be the case.

That said, I don't think you can look at the progress and the numbers he made in his 2nd year and say he doesn't have tremendous potential as a guard in the NBA

Kinda feel like you knew, or had a real strong inkling, but didn't want to say too much?

What is it that left them so down on DLO that he becomes a salary dump sweetener before his rookie contract expires?

Thank God! er i mean Magic! "Lonzo out of shape" = smokescreen and a fantastic workout. Nice salary dump and one year rental, just deng, randall and young, and the plate is clean...

I really hope Dlo kills it in Brooklyn, posts HOF numbers over his career and shows this laker salary dump to be one of the worst trades in lakers history. He looked like a comer, especially late in the year. To give up on a 2nd year 21 year old because you don't like his attitude? My answer: get a coach that can reach him - g'bye Luke!

I guess the new question is, since the Lakers traded Russell, does that mean Lonzo Ball is in?

Unless you think the lakers will take a run at 32 yo chris paul, it seems the lakers are putting all their eggs in one basket and choosing Ball.

As of right now, reloading the Laker bench with two guards looks pretty straightforward:

27 Derrick White, PG - 6-5 200 (COLORADO)
28 Tyler Dorsey, SG - 6-4 OR Dillon Brooks, SG - 6-7 (OREGON)

Easy-peasy.

Leaning that way, too, but more inclined to go with at least one SF/SG swing player:

27 Derrick White, PG/SG - 6-5, 200 with the 6'7-1/2" wingspan
28 Wesley Iwundu, SG - 6-7, 205 with the 7'1" wingspan

I think by default. Unless Ball goes #1 overall.

DLo has skills which is the reason why the Nets wanted him.

Lakers needed to get rid of Mosgov's contract and one has to give something back of value since they are dysfunctional like the NY Knicks and SacKings. I am are that if the Nets wanted Nwaba instead of DLo, that trade would have been completed quickly

DLo is a SG since Lin is the PG.

Wish the best for DLo in Brooklyn.

Lakers were not looking better with DLo at PG so this deal is good for both parties

Don't forget the fan tweet DLo liked suggested the Lakers do not pick Ball. That was a clear sign of immaturity and probably gave the Lakers a preview of an impending chemistry issue. They wanted to make sure Lonzo has a clean slate.

Yep, it showed the "internal" envy of the attention that Lonzo was receiving and I believe Lakers felt it "absolutely" cannot have disharmony within the organization...especially the players!
