I know this, because everywhere I go in LA (and I love LA, I love every city in LA, I love the vibrancy of this amazing place), I see nothing but Lakers 23 jerseys.

It’s a beautiful sight.

And LBJ in purple and gold is a thing of beauty.

LeBron chose us, and in return, we have chosen you as our sports leader, post Kobe, and into the new era of Lakers dominance.

We love LA, we love LeBron, and we welcome his greatness with open arms.

I never thought the day would come where I would utter these words...

But here we are in 2018, and a new day has come.

A new day indeed, where the Lakers aren’t Booty O’s, sinking down in the pits of lottery hell.

We’re back baby!

Yep I can see them making the conference semis at least once during LBJs tenure just like that scrappy 95 Bulls squad 🤣

Awesome

YO!!!!

Them three on the floor at the same time!!!! Im scared for other teams, the lineups Luke are gonna be able to run out there are gonna be so awesome
to watch.

Will be interesting to see how we measure up with the Denver Nuggets, we play them twice in the preseason and a lot of power rankings have them as a contender.

I'm looking forward to playing Denver and smacking them in the mouth after them disrespecting us last year. That's definitely a team i don't like. I hope Zo drops a triple dub on Murray.

Unfortunately our designated smacker is in New Orleans this year. That game against Denver at Staples last year was soooo good.

Yup. Still seems incredibly ironic if your goal was to stockpile on tough, competitive guys.

Hope Ramona is happy now. She was complaining on the radio a month ago wishing that Lebron would embrace the Lakers more, address the media more, and she stated that his actions aren’t helping Lebron win over Kobe fans.

Not sure how much more she wants from of the King, but he did things his way for a reason. He still cares for the people of Northeast Ohio and the last thing he wants is to rub (bleep) in their faces. Lebron has been around the Lakers plenty. Lebron has said plenty.

LeBron has definitely been thinking real hard about this Lakers team and it’s brand.. he’s for sure super motivated this year because of people doubting his ability...

Here is a quote from CBS Sports:

"Typically, though, the best way to maximize James is to give him the ball and put lots of shooting around him, even if it can tire him out and create a dependence on him. Los Angeles has, obviously, not done this."

And they are NOT the first person to question the signing of Stephenson, Rondo, McGee and Beasly.

These sports guys are idiots, exactly what "shooters" are these guys referring to?? JR Smith? Love? Frye? Clarkson? Derrick Rose? Dewayne Wade? Kyle Korver? - NONE of those so called "shooters" helped LeBron the last few years..

The Lakers DO have shooters!
Kuzma- Shooter
Pope - Shooter
Ingram - Shooter
Ball - Shooter
Hart - Shooter
Svi: Shooter
Wagner: Shooter

If I read one more article suggesting the Lakers made a mistake by not bringing in "shooters" my head is going to explode...!

Anyone else tired of hearing this????

Yep, it’s all over the forums, people don’t think we have enough shooting, it’s like wow have people been paying attention to our players? We got multiple guys who can potentially shoot 40% from the 3 this year.. it is definitely annoying.

Which acquisition this summer got them over the hump to make them a contender? Isaiah Thomas?

See for yourself if you don’t believe me, that doesn’t mean there right but the hunch I got is that people think Denver is gonna be relevant this year, probably because of how talented there roster looks.

No one called Denver a contender

Not saying you are wrong, cause I think Denver is more of a mid-tier team then a actual contender.

But some places have them as a contender and are above us in that ESPN power ranking.

It's like they want players who can ONLY shoot.
This isn't the era of specialists.

Clarkson, Rose, and Wade are the only guys on that list from Cleveland who aren't reliable shooters.

On the Lakers side, Kuz, KCP, Hart, Svi, and Wagner are good shooters, but the only ones in that group who will be locks in the rotation are the first three. Lonzo can get hot, but he's streaky. Overall, though, he didn't shoot it well last year. And while BI's percentage was good, it came on low volume. I would expect him to take more this year, so we'll see how that impacts his percentage.

A big concern is that you have three rotation guys (Lonzo, Lance, and Rondo) who are virtually non-shooters. Rondo has been a historically bad shooter and no one understands this better than us (2008 + 2010 Finals where Kobe paid literally no attention to him). But technically, he still shot slightly better than Lonzo did last year. Lance was just plain awful at 29%. How do you manage lineups? I don't think you can play two of those three together, especially while LeBron is on the court. It'd be too easy. The defense will just send extra defenders and double dare Lonzo and Rondo to shoot (triple dog dare for Lance). It'll be a significant challenge for Luke in trying to avoid lineups that feature two of those guys together. How Lonzo shoots will be vital. If he can shoot at a decent clip it would make things less complicated.

The biggest concern in this regard is what happens in the playoffs. We saw firsthand how Kobe was able to single-handedly disrupt Boston's offense by ignoring Rondo and being a help defender instead. The Warriors did the same thing to Tony Allen when they were trailing the Grizzlies 2-1 in the playoffs. The Grizzlies never won another game that series. Teams zero in on your weaknesses in the playoffs. Hopefully those guys either shoot it a lot better this year or the coaching staff is able to find clever ways of getting around it if they don't.

We should also remember that with other guys that can create for others, LeBron is a very good shooter. I think this part of his game will be used this year more then ever in his career. It will preserve his body for the playoffs when we’ll need him and add possible time to his career if he wants it.

Heck, you could put me on the roster, and I'd be a "shooter," too. That's not what the analysts are talking about. They're talking about effective shooters. Ingram and Hart were reasonably effective last year, and Casey P was okay. Everyone else was league average or lower (except for the two rookies, who have never taken a shot in the NBA). Unless Ball, Kuzma, and the rookies make major strides, we lack shooters.

I added their 3-pt shooting from last year in bold. Interestingly, the Lakers best shooters got the fewest shots and their worst shooter got the most.

I would not call Ball a shooter based on his 2017-18 performance; I hope that he does better this year.

As a team, GSW last year shot 39.1% from the 3-pt line with 28.9 attempts per game. The Lakers were #29 with a percentage of 34.5% and 29.1 attempts.

I think we are going to see a lot of play making outside of Lebron this season as well which will be obviously much different then the past.. Nearly the entire core of this team can do multiple things well, there aren't really any shooting "specialists".. Another thing is that when you add Lebron and have multiple play makers on the court at once there are going to be A LOT of wide open looks.. I'm excited to see how this team gels together this year and very happy they didn't just sign all the best journeymen shooters they could get there hands on.. worst case scenario if it doesn't work they just keep the core together and have a ton of cap space to try again next season while also seeing which of the young guys work best with Lebron. The only guy they signed I was a little hesitant about is Lance and even with him I have a feeling he is going to prove a lot of people wrong but he is at a position where if he doesn't work out he can easily be tossed to the end of the bench.

The best passing starting PG Lebron has ever played with was probably Kyrie or Chalmers, and neither are very good passers. Rondo and Lonzo are by far the best passers and PGs that Lebron has had. I am excited to see Lebron's off-ball play, which has been great in the past when he has done it despite lack of passers.

People think surrounding LeBron with shooters is the only way to play. We don’t have enough good shooters, but I don’t think we’re gonna play this way. It will be all about fast pace and ball movement, this team won’t resemble last season Cavs at all. LeBron knows it better than anyone.

Rondo shot 42% from three in the playoffs last year while taking two a game. On Dallas he shot 50% taking one a game. That will do on this roster.

Y'know the sheer absurdity of how good the player we just signed in LeBron is really becomes all the more apparent when you check out his game logs from last year. Let's look at some of his WORST games.

---------

The worst game score James recorded last year was in January against the Magic (Cavs won by 1). His game score was 5.9 and he still put up 16/5/6 on 43% shooting.

In fact his lowest game scores are often skewed by poor shooting performances (which seeing as he shot 55% last year were rare).

In another "low point" of his season he put up 24/11/5 in a win over Miami but shot only 8 of 21 to get there.

When you start to look at his GOOD games it gets dizzying.

Against the Wizards in his 9th game of the season LeBron blew up for a season high 57/11/7 on 68% shooting. That just looks made up. VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hgxhKprFJs4

His game score for the above was 53.2. Since 1978 there have only been 21 games where a player recorded a game score above 50. In those 21 you're talking about some of the greatest performances of all time; Kobe's 81, David Robinsons 71. Ironically there are only 2 losing performances in those 21 games and one of them is Devin Bookers 70 point game. Take from that what you will.

Another example is against Minnesota in February he put up 37/10/15 on 72% shooting and 5 of 7 from long range and hit the game winning buzzer beater. VIDEO: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wLOBcweu6ew

When LeBron is on, he basically made that pretty shallow Cavs team unbeatable. In the top 20 ranked game scores of last season LeBron went 17-3 and he lost those three games by a combined 12 points. The idea of what he could do surrounded by youth, talent and playmaking is incredible.

In short gents, we've got quite a season to look forward to.
