From Woj’s article:

http://www.espn.com/nba/story/_/id/25285375/kevin-durant-nba-most-powerful-person

Quote:
You think James checking in with Durant about whether he'd want to sign with the Lakers last summer was only a throwaway flier?

Everyone in the league knows Durant might leave next summer. Just like everyone in the league knew James might leave Cleveland a year ago.

ESPN has turned Woj into another garbage writer. That quote said nothing.

Woj was always a garbage writer. He's the man when it comes to reporting news, but anything beyond that has always been trash

Yup. As a writer, Woj is known more for his hit pieces.

It's November, and I'm already sick of hearing about Kevin Durant and what he might do next summer. Heck, at this point, given the way that Durant is acting in Golden State, and given that Durant will be 31 next year, I'm thinking that Kawhi Leonard should be the #1 target.

I’m tired of Kawhi and his undecided ass. Plus rumors he’s favoring the Clippers got me feeling some type of way. Basically making me want KD more so we could destroy the Clippers even more let alone the entire league.

Plus seeing the Warriors downfall while they open up their new arena would be excellent 😈😈😈😈😈

I personally want Kawhi over Lebron simply because we'd get him at 28 compared to Durant at 31.

In 4 years if Lebron's out I'd rather have 31 year old Kawhi over a 34-35 year old Durant.

He's mine too, b/c he would also give us 6m to play around with in cap space too.

But that wasn't the choice presented. There was no way the Lakers were turning down LBJ.

Now we just have to close on KD/KL.

The window would be short with a 35 yo Lebron and a 31 yo KD. Especially considering the role players that we have to put around them.

Possibly. But not an overwhelming favorite like the past 3 seasons.

Their margin for error significantly decreases without KD.

If Curry gets an ankle or knee injury they have no one who can reliably score off the dribble (and he's already having some injuries here and there).

Plus, in a Warriors/Lakers matchup, they do not have anyone that can match up with a KD/LBJ forward duo.

That was locked in when the 2018 plan because the 2018-2019 plan. It doesn't matter who we put into the second slot. The window will likely be short because of Lebron. But yes, with Durant, the window could be really short.

I am pretty sure that the Warriors would make a few moves if KD left. But injuries would be huge for either team.

They would not have many moves. Trade one of Steph/Klay/Dray? That's about it. No one is taking Iggy and his 16m/year deal. They are asset poor outside of those 3.

I agree with Broussard. Lebron was sending a message to league with his last performance. He still is the best when he wants to be. If he is healthy I think we beat anyone in the west in a seven game series. Except the Warriors, I just cant see that.

I will say, We do have a very interesting matchup with them.

You never know Paul George was predicted to be a Laker by the majority.
