It's November, and I'm already sick of hearing about Kevin Durant and what he might do next summer. Heck, at this point, given the way that Durant is acting in Golden State, and given that Durant will be 31 next year, I'm thinking that Kawhi Leonard should be the #1 target.
The window would be short with a 35 yo Lebron and a 31 yo KD. Especially considering the role players that we have to put around them.
I think the window is going to be longer than people realize. Lebron is going to have Tom Brady like longevity and a ridiculously long prime.
Vince Carter, who is almost 42 years old (8 years older than Lebron), in 19 mpg is averaging 7-2-1 on 45-41-82 and he is taking 4 three point shots per game and he had only a tiny fraction of the basketball ability, skills, and size that Lebron has. By comparison when Vince was 34 he was a shell of his former self while Lebron at 34 is still in his prime.
Malone, who is a similar comparison to Lebron because of their insane durability and longevity, was averaging 21-8-5 at 40 years old. Lebron is basically Karl Malone plus much better athleticism, much better ball handling, passing, midrange/3 point shooting, better and more versatile defense as well. Plus Lebron is obsessed with his diet, freezes his self after games, and spends 1.5 million dollars a year on his body.
Lebron has many attributes that don't decline with age (bball IQ, passing, shooting, size, and strength) and has no significant injury history. His shooting will continue to improve and he can improve his post skills by a lot as well. Even the attributes that do decline are so high that even with decline they will still be impressive, like his athleticism (especially in comparison to his size). His baseline was just so high. He is going to make one heck of a PF or C at age 40.
I think Tom Brady is probably the best comparison because he is also obsessed with his diet and lifestyle. Like Brady, I think Lebron is going to be an elite superstar until age 40.
Looking forward to him pushing that non-Laker MJ down the list lol. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketballā¦but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

Hell ya
It would be great if we picked up KD so we can see MJ passed up again. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketballā¦but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

It's funny the amount of self-medicating Lebron does via red wine.
His instagram story showed 2 bottles of red wine and said "solo mission" a couple nights ago. _________________ "Every hurt is a lesson, and every lesson makes you betterā

I personally want Kawhi over Lebron simply because we'd get him at 28 compared to Durant at 31.
In 4 years if Lebron's out I'd rather have 31 year old Kawhi over a 34-35 year old Durant.
But that wasn't the choice presented. There was no way the Lakers were turning down LBJ.
Now we just have to close on KD/KL.
In Magic We Trust
Lol the doubters are in for rude awakening ..
KD already told Magic and Bron hes coming š
Can't forget that KD is apparently a b***h. Even his current teammates seem to think so. Just like PG, I'm not counting on KD until he signs on the dotted line. It's fine to keep the salary slot open but don't be caught with their pants down if he signs elsewhere.

Lol his burner account fiasco also seems to support this assessment. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketballā¦but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."

Unless there is a fumble or interception, Brady never is on the field when defense is expected.
I think he wants to do just enough to keep this team just above .500, and in the playoffs, otherwise I expect him to start deferring again to the youngsters for most of the game. Lakers needed him to be a bit more dominant the last few games though. Except Orlando xD

Hopefully they can close it out early so he can get some rest in the 4th. _________________ "Chick lived and breathed Lakers basketballā¦but he was also fair and objective and called every game the way it was played."
