What’s wrong with middle aged white man? LBJ is a big advocate of not oppressing and sticking up for a country that doesn’t allow freedom of speech! Means he’s fake like most. You fit right in. Talk LBJ all you want, he just made himself look so fake and a fraud and he could do no wrong in your eyes so it’s a little stalker like to me. How many minorities are running on the Democratic side? Right so progressive!!! Sorry you think being white is superior to other races that to me is racist. Not a republican fan either but at least there not playing identity politics.

Pretty much every celebrity is fake these days, from the minute they hire their first PR agent or suffer from their first backlash.

Even those people who are viewed to be "real", their "realness" is carefully concocted by marketing people. Every single bit of it is an act.

Whenever a person has tens of millions of dollars invested in their image, then they will do whatever it takes for that image to not lose them money. Lebron, Kawhi, PG, Harden, Westbrook, everybody has a carefully constructed mask.

... Except for KD. He just has separate twitter accounts and so doesn't need a mask.

Can we talk about basketball yet? Do I have to manufacture some fake Lebron is better than Kobe controversy to get us all back onto basketball

no, we all hate Lebron for being fake. Since the Chinese fans are all Lebron fans now and they all switching to watching Lakers this season.

To counter that, we must all become rockets and Morey fans. See you guys on clutchfans and rockets arena.

Stop supporting Lebron and the lakers because they support the evil empire of China

Shaq for some reason is so undervalued by a lot. Not saying LG honestly don’t know how most you guys feel but absolutely helped carry his team. To me Kobe had his fair share as well. Both absolute studs. LBJ is an absolute stud as well and I hope he rocks it this year!! I have some concerns moving forward as far as him aging a little vs injured but he is a fantastic player. Dan absolutely was a cheap ass and LBJ brought Cleveland a championship against one of the best teams in history. I like talking vs typing because so much context is missed. Lol I’m rooting for his success just sick of all the BS in this world

Lebron also turns everyone else on the team into supermen. It's not just that he makes them better but it's like he has a bowl full of superpowers he can just distribute to his teammates whenever he wants.

Only Lebron has that bowl. It's a pretty valuable bowl.

people seem to think that if everybody talks and tweets about a situation, then that will "make a difference" and fix it, and that if celebrities don't then it's all their fault.

Lebron trying to be diplomatic about China is smart; in the long run, NBA's involvement in China could help prevent a World War. And just directly calling them out will just cause China to lock up and expel commerce and free information, which in the end bring democracy organically (hopefully).

Yes it is odious the way authoritarian foreign countries are getting more bold about calling out journalists etc in other countries and trying to control the global narrative, but again that just underlines how great it is to live in America

as a point of contrast, Muhammad Ali probably would take the side of the Chinese in this, say it's their business etc. Ali even spoke at a KKK rally in favor of racial segregation in America, saying that it was better for black people and he agreed with the KKK.

also, Ali's vaunted religious conversion was actually joining a group called The Nation of Islam, which is a really fringy group that many have likened to a cult, and whose teachings involve UFOs and motherships:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nation_of_Islam#The_Mother_Plane_and_Ezekiel's_Wheel

and have some really strange and extreme views on race:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nation_of_Islam#Teachings_on_race

So yeah before Kellerman and some others get so way far out over their skis about how Ali was some kind of saint or moral savant and Lebron is just a crass sell out, they should try to take a more objective and realistic look at the whole situation

I am all for Hong Kong being free, however Hong Kong is unfortunately actually a part of China and belongs to that country, so if they are having what amounts to a rebellion or borderline civil war or something that is not just something to be solved on Twitter. It should not be incumbent on every basketball player to suddenly have a nuanced and principled political stance on this or have to speak about it publicly.

Jeeezus Ivanka and Jered are doing one deal after another and exchanging Chinese trademarks for trade deals and concessions so Trump has a lot of nerve spouting his mouth off about Lebron who is actually an ambassador of peace

Lol. You must not have witnessed their dynamic in real time. We literally could not give the ball to Shaq in late game moments. Kobe was transcendent.
Your argument is insultingly simple

Ordinary people are fake, too. They just don't have the added pressure/complications of living under the kind of spotlight that celebrities do.
