Ugh.

I'm sure Lonzo is doing whatever he's cleared to do at this point. It's a shame that folks can't simply rejoice over what happened today without poisoning the well by taking veiled shots at Lonzo and his work ethic. I saw this stuff on Twitter and Instagram too. Just enjoy this, folks. Sheesh.

As if anybody knew for certain that Lonzo is spending his days lying on the couch eating chips.

If Lebron could repeat this season like last season, then Lonzo would be irrelevant. To me, Lonzo or Rondo on the floor wouldn't make that much of a difference. Maybe with Lebron taking the pressure off of Lonzo this season, he might be able to make his jumpshots this season.

I don't think he's irrelevant. Whether he starts or not is irrelevant, with the presence of Rondo. But having him (even if it's off the bench) assures that there will always be another elite passer/playmaker on the floor at all times to take the pressure off of LeBron. The whole point is so that LeBron DOESN'T have to repeat the carry-job he did last season.

Kuz and Ingram can carry the load while Lebron sits. If need a ball handler, then Rondo could fill that role, too. So Lonzo isn't really needed.

So what's your lineup for the year?

Kuzma starting over KCP confirmed.

eh, because of better tats?
Kuz is not a guard by any means and is better as a 6th man role anyway where he will have more touches

I think Hart should start over KCP btw

KCP is a better fit with LeBron, I like Hart off the bench.

Why is KCP a better fit?

Because he’s faster in transition and that is what we are gonna need in the starting line up

That is not a good reason though.

Looking at the playtypes Hart had a higher %ile for spot ups and off screens. I think the only thing kcp did better was playing the passing lanes on defense. This is going to be an interesting decision by Luke.

One thing I didn't like about Hart in summer league was his griping on calls and getting techs. Hopefully that doesn't transition over to the regular season.

I was just wondering...

When Lebron was in his early years in the league, people were coming down on him saying he has no outside shot, no post game and he was passive in crunch time.

He has obviously elevated himself to become the best player on the planet.

It looks like he has outgrown his flaws. Were people just being haters back then? I would imagine that no player just entering the NBA is a finished product.

Isn't that good b/c he's playing PF?

How many PFs can keep up with him?

Agree, LeBron at PF can play at elite level for 3 more years

And with his ability to shoot, handle the ball, pass, teams will have to put their best defender on him. That will make it easier for someone like BI who may now have a traditional "PF" guarding him for example, or the lesser defender (instead of when he got the best defender on a nightly basis last year).

I seriously doubt Lebron will start at PF. He slimmed down this off season.

Lonzo / Rondo / Stephenson
Ingram / Hart / Stephenson
Lebron / KCP / Stephenson
Kuzma / Beasly
Mcgee / Zubac

You need our top 3 scorers together. Why are we benching our best shooter? Look at his games vs rockets, San antonio, Cetics, etc. He is not a bench player.

Hmm. Not sure we're going to bench KCP. If anything, I'm almost certain he's starting. IMO:

Lonzo
KCP
BI
LBJ
McGee

are your starters. I don't think BI has the "SG" skills (i.e. curling off screens and shooting off the catch, etc.). Don't like him chasing around guards either.

Based on what is kuzma 6th man?

Based on 5 other players starting

unless KCP shows up out of shape or plays very poor in preseason....can't really imagine him not starting on opening night

He won't be. This is a make/break year for him b/c he's probably looking for a long term deal. He fits nicely as a SG finisher on our team and his life should be so much easier now with LBJ there.

I really like KCP’s play and posted last season that I hoped he would be here for several seasons. Getting some continuity with Lebron would be a positive.

You are looking at this the traditional way. All KCP is good at is coming off screenings and letting it fly. Kuzma does this also. So on offense Kuzma becomes your SG, Ingram SF and Lebron PF. You don’t want Ingram chasing SG? why not? He is 6”9 long arms and very fast. He could do a great job at contesting jumpers even when he is stuck behind a screen.

Also continuity is important, kCP is here for his $$$$.

if they can move Deng instead of trading him....will not be surprised if KCP is around for a while....or I would doubt it, but it would not shock me to see him take the room exception so we could sign him long term the following season via bird rights.

Watch the film. BI struggles chasing smaller guards around screens (footwork issue). He's not going to do the things we need from a shooting guard that KCP/Hart can do.

BI will start, but IMO as a SF. KCP will be the other guard on opening night.
