Plays clutch defense in the 4th quarter, and yet some Lakers fans still don't want him to come here?

Come on...who wants a legit superstar on their roster.

Ha. Seriously. Waiting for a particular poster to put up a wall of text against Lebron.

And then regurgitating that keeping Randle, KCP, and Lopez is a better option...

There are Lakers fans that want LeBron here. This is like when Michael was free agent back around '96 and wanted him here.

On the other side of things, the Cavs without LeBron might be the worst team in the league, at least until Thomas proves he is going to be able to give something special coming off a pretty serious injury. After 7 straight trips to the finals he's going to have to rest at some point this season.

He's not coming.

Well Thomas will be a FA too, why not sign him as well...!

LeBron to the Lakers is probably smoke for his real destination.

He’s not coming to Laker land to this project; IMO.

Many Laker fans like me don't want him here because we want to defeat him. Of course it stems from the Kobe thing, we're committed to saying "To hell with LeBron!"

I want to win games, and not only regular season ones, but you know the ones we used to win in June. We took on Karl Malone, we can take on LBJ.

I watched the first half before going over to the Dodgers game and he was looking like he was playing half speed and had like 16 pt 7 reb 6 ast at half

Welcome to LA this summer LeBron

That GQ article is very interesting. Sounds like LeBron's next career decision is more than just basketball. He has personal issues with the city of Cleveland and Dan Gilbert still.

We also had Kobe and Shaq at that time too, and unless we have something akin to that brewing or at the very least a young player that plays at an all-star level then LeBron has no reason to come here. Just as Malone wouldn't have if Kobe and Shaq weren't here.

You're assuming it's only 100% basketball related.

There may be other off court reasons for him coming to LA, and I for one would welcome him here (and I have and will continue to root against him and the Cavs but respect him as an all time great).

I'm going by "It's 100% 'I want to win more rings as well as a max' related."

And LeBron has never made any other decision of the contrary so there's absolutely no reason to assume he would outside of "We're the Lakers and in Los Angeles." but nothing based upon fact or anything his actions or decisions in his career have entailed or shown support that he'd make any other decision outside of one that puts him in the title picture immediately.

After reading that GQ article, the writing is definitely on the wall, he's leaving Cleveland.

Real question is, is it going to be for LA just like most report have him going to? Spurs and 76ers fans think they have a shot at him.

Again, you're supporting my argument. It's clear you believe it's 100% basketball related.

I believe it's basketball related but also off-court/post-career related as well.

Definitely sounding more and more that his emphasis is more post-career driven.

I agree with MJST if this was 2010 or 2014. But I think he has a broader picture of his life that encompasses political activism (see his comments re: Ohio and POTUS), his desires to be a billionaire, oh and also the basketball thing.

I agree that it probably was heavily skewed more so towards basketball reasons previously, but that pendulum may swing towards a more multi-faceted approach in choosing his next destination.

I still think it's less than 50% that LBJ comes, but I wouldn't write the Lakers off.

The hesitation to wanting to sign James is not simply about one player in a vacuum. It has multiple aspects to consider.

I still have doubts it works on the floor and him signing is more about the hype and marketing surrounding the signing then any sustained chances at winning a Championship. That is still the goal isn't it?

James had a great game last night. Going to be interesting to see how if the ankle is isolated or is this the season the over 50,000 career mins start to show.

No denying James is a hell of a player still. My concerns remain putting all the eggs in one basket with him and the hurricane that follows him. Is it sustainable for more then a season or two? Is it realistic to assume the Lakers can win in that window? When they don't what are they left with when James decides it more fun to be a run his companies then the grind of building a winner.

Not a popular opinion I know. But IMO all fair questions to consider before handing over the keys to kingdom to James.

When the likely alternatives are overpaying non-star players to eat up the comparable cap space, it's not much of a decision if LBJ is willing to join. Magic is banking on getting 2 star players, for better or worse, and if LBJ is willing to join it won't take Magic a millisecond to accept.

At the end of the day, Magic will call the shots. And he's been pretty clear about the type of players he's pursuing. Whether that's realistic or not is a different question but there's no doubt about whether he would sign LBJ/PG13 if they were willing to join.

Lonzo and company have to show that they have a supporting cast core that is ready to compete for the next 2-3 years regardless.
