Another side effect of this is that they will have another arena to hold Olympic events in 2024 or 2028.

Guys aren't you worried that the Clippers will have a better arena than we do?

Removing that Clipper stench will greatly improve the aesthetics of Staples.

A new arena doesn't change anything if the team stinks. Just look at the Nets for an example. The Knicks are still New York City's team even though they play in a 50 year old building, albeit with 1 billion dollar of renovations.

This would be a dream come true if they hadn't landed in Inglewood, of all places.

Even if they aren't literally tearing down the Forum, opening a state-of-the-art arena literally down the street can't help the Forum's chances to operate as successfully as it has since MSG restored it. It sure is a beautiful concert venue these days.

Why do the Clippers always feel like a gnat that just can't get out of the Lakers' faces?

Staples Center is already out dated, it needs major improvements.
You figure any arena built by Ballmer will have cutting edge technology, making Staples look like a dinosaur.

Link? What are some of those improvements it needs?

Staples Center already has an enormous footprint, the lack of which is what doomed most arenas built before the late '90s.

Not really. If Ballmer does anything really geeky in the new Dork Palace and it happens to catch on AEG will make sure Staples can do whatever that thing is, too.

We have won more titles in Inglewood than the Clippers will for their entire stay in Inglewood

It would be pretty cool if the Lakers had an arena in that sports complex as it's just down the 105 from where I work but Staples Center is the hub of LA Live and Ballmer is putting up his own money to build one for the Clippers.

Just read the closest Metro Line to the new Inglewood stadium will be 1.5 miles away.

Read that they would have to use eminent domain to get part of the land from private parties. If they manage to build it I don't see it getting built early before their Staples Center contract ends.

Once they get those stadiums built they will probably extend that line.

This stadium will never get built, to me is the first domino for Ballmer to move to Seattle, reason this wont get built is MSG sunk alot of money into the Forum a few years ago and is already complaining, they have the money to fight this and ultimately will win the fight

I can see them fighting it because it will take away concerts and events from the Forum which they pumped millions fixing it up. Like I said this thing will go thru a multitude of lawsuits before it gets built. From eminent domain to fighting off lawsuits from MSG, etc. Also the problem in LA now is that there way more venues than events. We have the new LA football stadium which will challenge the Rose Bowl and Coliseum for events, and if this new arena gets built it will compete with the Staples Center and the Forum for concerts. And this is not counting the fact that Dodger Stadium, Anaheim Pond, Stubhub Center and the new LAFC stadium also competes for those same events.

Great point. Hopefully, this gets the ball rolling on the Clippers moving out of LA.

The building itself is structurally fine.
If you mean by the technology to connect everyone to the internet and latest technology like 4k screens and jumbotrons, its definitely showing its age on that end. However, I don't think they need to demolish an 18 year old building to do that.

No, just some added improvements. After almost 20 years the Lakers should insist on it.

For concerts, sure. But for sporting events it fits like a glove. Other than the fact that it looks like a downed alien spacecraft from the outside (whereas the Forum is just nice to look at), what don't you like?

Saw a concert there last weekend. What they've done with the place is certainly worth fighting for. The best sounding bill hall I've ever heard, and not close.

Come one Forum, win one for us! Send the Clips to Carson. Seattle is also nice.
