Probably a trade down, if anything.

That feeling when you know there is a chance you're getting the best player in the draft possibly cause of Ainge's stupidity...

I cant imagine the celtics passing on fultz but you never know

They like athletic players who can play defense and can't shoot like Brown and Smart so its possible.

would you guys trade #2 for Porz? Than kind of trade would fasttrack our rebuild. Porz can be our defensive anchor and shooting big. Hell i would even throw #28

If New York offered Porz he would be wearing purple and gold by the end of the day.

I am sure the Celtics are considering several players, as are we.

Nothing is going to happen before Boston picks first. Personally I like Lonzo and would prefer to keep him, but if Magic isn't sold the only way I drop back to 4 is if Phoenix takes Luol. Something like 2/Deng for 4/Dudley/Miami pick. I could live with that since it frees us up a bit for next summer. I'd go for Tatum at 4.

I actually really don't like the idea of trading the pick just to get rid of one of our bad contracts. A few reasons...

1. We should have enough room to take on George next year, anyway.
2. JC's 12 mil/year contract is easily movable if we need room.
3. In the faint case that Lebron wants to come here, you can just give up players and/or draft picks to get rid of your bad contracts, and you only do that at that time, when you know for sure that he's coming here.
4. Getting rid of them with two years on the books is a lot easier than with three years.
5. Stretch provision, if available, for one of them.

The suns wouldn't give up the 2018 and take Deng's contract. I dont think they would take Deng in any trade, I wouldn't. I would also take Fox.

If they feel that none of them are superstar material, or if they feel they can still get their guy at #4 while also picking up an adidtional asset, then they'd have to seriously look into it. I guess the real question would be if it's contingent on whom Ainge drafts.

If they could get PHX to bite on #2 for #4 + PHX's own pick next year, I'd do that in a heartbeat. That pick would have a great shot at being top 3 next year.

Porter, Doncic, Bamba.

I would normally doubt that PHX would do it, but given how horrible of a GM they have, and the fact that he might be desperate to make a big splash to save his job, it could be a possibility.

One of JJ, Isaac, Tatum, Fox and a great shot at one of Porter, Doncic, Bamba ?

All day every day.

And if they made the swap soon, they might still end up with Ball. Give Lavar a week to crank out media firebombs about the FO and players in Philly and PHX, and we might still see Lonzo drop to the Lakers. He could tank some workouts to help with that as well.

Talking to PHX is a great approach. The best GMs consistently take advantage of the bad ones. The first step is identifying the bad ones, and the bad ones who are on the hot seat and likely to make a desperation move are even better targets. Never underestimate the stupidity of an incompetent GM who is on the hot seat and desperate to make a splash. This is the same guy who traded the Lakers 2018 pick to Philly and IT to Boston and has basically nothing to show for it.

If he thinks drafting Lonzo could buy him a few years of job security, he might do it, because if he gets fired this year, he's not going to be worrying about next year's draft.

You definitely pursue that trade through draft night. He might cave when Ball, Fultz and JJ are all gone before they pick.

And if they won't give you that 2018 pick unprotected, then you move on to your next option (which may be simply keeping whomever you picked at 2).

But you pursue #2 for #4 + PHX's own pick next year as long as you can.

Magic and Pelinka running a beautiful smoke screen.

This duo will bring us a title before it is all said and done.

Trade the number 2 for the #4 and the Suns' unconditional first in 2018. Then trade the #4 for the #5 and #10 to the Kings. Then watch as Ball falls to #5 and they pick up the guy they were projected to get anyways while getting 2 additional lottery picks. Then the Suns suck and the Lakers end up with the 2018 #1. Paul George shows up next offseason seeing a team that has the #1 pick and a whole bunch of talented lottery players around him.

They are doing a great job of not letting on who they like.

Ball would no longer fall to us, as the scuttlebutt as to why Phoenix would even consider doing this is that they would want to pair Ball with Booker.

I will say this...got to give them credit for effective smoke screen despite their leak, leak strategy

Just like how they were "open" to trading last year's pick and the year before that. It's the job of a GM to field offers, otherwise he wouldn't be much of a GM.

If reports are true that Celts will take JJ at #1, you have to keep the pick and grab Fultz. He's going to be worth a lot more than whoever we can get at 4 + next year's Suns pick.
