Julius don't have good numbers near the basket. In fact I don't know if he is above average from anywhere on the floor. |
60.8% around the rim. That's better than Boogie |
Boogie is one of the least efficient centers out there despite the huge numbers.
I don't know if it is just me, but I don't pay much attention to players posting good raw numbers without a decent deal of efficiency. He is sure an upgrade over anything we have, but players like him, Melo and I'd put Julius on that list aren't usually players helping the team to win.
That used to be one of my critics about the player we sent to New Jersey, we lost our leading scorer at the same time the player that had only the 12th best TS% our leading in assist without a good AST/TO ratio, a player with steals and a bad DBPM/DRPM. |
Give me some sweet USG data, nash, if you're going to be bashing the man's TS%. |
Lopez
.578 TS%, 29.2 USG% |
Sweet. Glad you got unbanned. |

I'm here for the Randle/Lopez defensive combo at the 4/5. |
Ibaka's D has slipped but, IF NOT, he would have been a good
addition this off season. Still I don't know if he has dropped off
that much, Ive not been paying much attention... |
No more overpaid old declining players. Did we learn nothing from the Mozdeng contracts? You think that Ibaka got traded twice in the same season because he is playing great? |
He's 27 going on 28....get the man a walking cane... |
Have you watched him play recently? He is not the player you remember. He is now on the Deng trajectory. |
No I have not followed him, I mentioned that. But at his playing prime he's the type of player you want at PF to play along side of Lopez. The problem, as DT mentions, is playing D along side of Randle; that will not be pretty.
Either the Lakers turn Randle's D around or he becomes a one dimensional player for life. Things to look out for next season. _________________ Lakers need to build a freaking team ! |

Yeah, the D is going to be horrible with Lopez and Randle out there.
Maybe Nance will play some more minutes. _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss |

Read the article I posted - Lopez's defense is underrated. His opponents shoot 10% worse against him than the rest of the league.
I know we only have him for 1 year, but he is going to be WAYYYYY better than Mozgov. Lonzo is gonna set him up like crazy. If we get PG, definitely >40 wins next year. |

Not just from my chest I guess.
How many long time users we lost in the process?
I just refused to migrate to other places because I enjoy it here, I've been reading DancingBarry thoughts and ratings after every game including summer league and pre season for more than 10 years, I still miss Eric Pincus statistic analysis of each player after games, it was great, cachooca man and J2K highlights after games ... |

If we can get PG13 Brook Lopez is a good second option for the team. The guy is a better player than dlo but man is he paid. |

I think a lot of people are undervaluing what Brook's contribution could be to this team, especially with Lonzo Ball. He has been on absolute crap Brooklyn teams and is one of the most skilled 7 foot big men you will see.
I know a lot of people point to the fact that we traded Russell for a 27th, but Lopez is such an upgrade over Mozgov, even though it is viewed as a salary dump. |
He will be on the team for exactly 1 season, and we're probably going to win about 25-30 games during that 1 season |
Wow, pessimist much? |
It's not being pessimistic. The Lakers are going to renounce him in order to go after LeBron. |
https://mobile.twitter.com/SarkisAdajian/status/877617418444488705 |
That doesn't conflict with what I said. That guy asked if the Lakers could resign Lopez if they trade for George and I'm saying they are going to try and replace him LeBron instead. |

There will undoubtedly be more losses. But the content providers/mods will hopefully keep bringing people back and enticing new ones to stick around. |

I hated this trade at first, but I'm trying to find the silver lining. Don't know if this was posted earlier since I can't read all the earlier posts here right now, but I just compared Brook's numbers last year with Porzingis and it's actually really close.
Brook Lopez '16-'17 • Age at start of 2017-18 Season - 29 years old
• BKN
Games 75
Minutes 29.6
Field Goals 7.4-15.6 .474
3pt Field Goals 1.8-5.2 .346
Free Throws 3.9-4.9 .810
Rebounds 1.6 3.8 5.4
Assists 2.3
Blocks 1.7
Steals 0.5
Points 20.5
Kristaps Porzingis '16-'17 • Age at start of 2017-18 Season - 22 years old
• NY
Games 66
Minutes 32.8
Field Goals 6.7-14.9 .450
3pt Field Goals 1.7-4.8 .357
Free Throws 3.0-3.8 .786
Rebounds 1.7 5.5 7.2
Assists 1.5
Blocks 2.0
Steals 0.7
Points 18.1
Analysis:
Brook played about 3 minutes less per game than Porzingis.
Brook shot the ball better from 2 and almost the same from 3 and made more total 3's than Porzingis.
Brook's free throws are better.
Rebounds are close considering Brook played 3 less minutes per game.
Assists, blocks and steals are all very close
Brook scored 2.4 more points per game despite playing 3 minutes less.
So essentially, just strictly by the numbers, did we just get the next best thing to Porzingis in the NBA?
Hope everything works out, but I still really hate to see us give up on Russell so early in his career. If Lopez can match his numbers from last year though, we may come out of this OK. |

I think it's possible we trade Lopez in this deadline to a (real) contender. _________________ “Life is too short. You have to keep it moving.” - Kobe |

Without the rebounding and shot blocking. Not that Welsh was ever good at that.
They should be able to spread the floor though. The only guy who can't shot would be Randle if he doesn't get traded.
potentially 3 pt shooters are every position
Ball
Clarkson
PG
Nance

Probably, although I don't remember if Welsch shot a lot of threes like Lopez. I remember him more for hitting those baseline midrange shots with regularity, but if Lopez is Welsch...Ball is also going to need three more shooters. Hope we get some soon. |

Short clip on Robin talking about his brother's fight with ibaka, pretty funny.

I think he'll be the starting center for the 2017-2018 season, maybe longer. Why do you think he'll be traded? |

nothing to with Brook, I just hate the idea of sticking a 30 year old center into what we're trying to do.
Paul George is 27 and he can give us 6-7 solid years (assuming our young cores growth can start to offset his hopefully steady decline).
The Lakers envision a fast paced offense, how does Brook fit into that? I really hope we move Brook by the end of the off-season _________________ “Life is too short. You have to keep it moving.” - Kobe |
