Wait...did I miss something...or is someone actually suggesting that John Ireland strung together words and made a coherent sentence...the guy is a putz (albeit an entertaining one)

That may have been the Mihm-Curry trade, which was a pretty big deal at the time in the press.

They dont want to say if anyone is being shopped around because they might not play as well otherwise. They probably do not want to hurt anyone in the process of trying to make a trade happen.

I think its more a question of the Lakers not wanting other teams coming in at the last minute and beating our offer. At least I hope so.

It's a question of portecting the trade.

That goes back to the Haley-gate last year in the trade deadline Lakers can't afford to tell anyone about a deal because there mostly likely gonna kill it " the media outlets " like Haley.

When things are not tossed around and we hear things like Lakers won't make a trade then you can bet something is getting done.

Noone wants a trade done with the Lakers. Fans especially. GMs too.

i really don't get why they'd say "no trade" now, they're just going to piss off the fans. if they had just waited till the deadline they could make it seem like they made an attempt, this sounds like they're actually content with the current roster and thats insane.

Of course it is a pipe dream, but Bynum, Kmart, Odom, Kobe, decent point guard, sounds like a team that can win 50 + games. I'd love to have Bibby over here, playing the point for us.

I sure am glad that we stayed with Mihm on that one. He's getting better and Curry is getting worse. Also glad we don't have Larry Brown as our coach.

Look.

If a trade happens, it will be a good one. A risk but something that can change the dynamic of this team. Especially next season.

However, even it doesn't - there is NO excuse for this team to miss the PO's.

Look at their schedule. Apart from games against Detroit and SA (4) the Lakers probably have an oppurtunity to win all the rest of them. They won't - but they should be able to win 18 more games.

There's 19 home games and around 12 road games. The Lakers - trade or no trade - should be making the playoffs.

what smokescreen? our upper management is too incompetent to use smokescreens. they're a bunch of chickens with their heads cut off. screw our upper management

You're right. Those weren't smokescreens we saw when the Lakers were running around telling everyone they wanted to do anything in their power to nab Gerald Green, right? You know, so that they could steal Bynum? That was just them being direct?

Some of you seriously need to stop acting like little children. Dang. You read this forum and I'd swear all of you were 5 friggin years old. "John Ireland said it was true, so I'm going to throw a trantrum! Fire them all, so there!!!" Do you realize how inane of a source that is, first of all, or do you not even care. If someone says it that's enough for you? Does the history of this franchise mean nothing to do? The 2nd year into a rebuild and you've completely forgotten the repeated dynasties this owner has honored our city with? If they don't rebuild in a minute, that's your attitude?

Good grief. Crap attitude. Lack of appreciation. Ingratitude. Terrible fanship. Sometimes it seems like the Lakers organization deserves to move to a city where the fans will actually appreciate all they do to try to win for us, instead of being ready to trash management after so little time spent rebuilding. It's truly sad in here sometimes.

I agree completely.

What do you mean no excuse not to make the playoffs. WE HAVE NO TALENT. Unfortunately thats an excuse.

If KMart gets traded it will be mostly expiring contracts and maybe a player then can use. There whole point in undertrading him is to max out Melo and maybe Nene.

Kwame is 7-9mil/year signed through 2008. I can't imagine them taking him. I could be wrong, but think about that. KMart is like 10.5mil for 4. Trade that for 8mil for 3 Kwame? Huge downgrade and not much added flexibility. I wouldn't do it.
