Don't worry. Magic has a Plan B.

Oh wait... he doesn't.

Acquire Mozgov from BKN for a trade exception.

Yeah, I agree...but we could wait for PG now until next season
if the Pacers asking price continues to elevate, IMO...

Maybe Brooklyn told Magic and Pelinka what the trade was going to be, so they accepted it.

Also Nets would have needed someone to replace Lopez.

and Moz's contract is about $8 million less than Deng's.

. Does that team win 30 games? With Brook the nets were still awful.

Without Paul George we are lucky if we win 25.

There is a lot of uninformed and ignorant whining in this and several other threads regarding the latest moves.

Fact: We weren't going to win ANYTHING with DLo getting meaningful minutes. He doesn't have the athleticism and more importantly the attitude to lead a team

Fact: Mosgov's contract was an albatross that was going to keep us from signing free agents next summer. We didn't even have the cap space to sign Paul George (if we don't trade for him this summer)

Fact: Even if we trade Clarkson and/or Julius Randle what have we really lost? Randle's contract is about to increase significantly and can we really win big with Julius as our power forward?

Fact: You don't win championships with Randle/Clarkson/Russell but can with players like George, Cousins, Ball, Ingram etc

Just let Magic do his thing and criticize him in a few years if his vision is wrong. You're judging Magic based on the hot mess Mitch and Jimmy left us with.

These are the only facts in your post. Everything else is actually opinion.

I was thinking about it, and the last 2 "superteams" began recruiting from Team USA (2008 - Lebron, Wade, and Bosh), (2016 - Draymond, Klay, and Durant). I think Cousins could be the guy with PG13, but Cousins is bros with Davis, so I don't know. Westbrook is impossible to read. He seems like a Thunder lifer, but who knows.

Other players "available" via trade or FA on the 2016 Team USA:

Lowry
Butler
Carmelo

WB is turning down $207 to come home?

Do you want to anchor your team around a guy who has yet to make the playoffs in Boogie?

lol this is getting dark. We're gonna count on a 34 year old Lebron now.

I just wanted to see a nice rebuild where we have a decade plus long window and consistent runs but nah let's settle for this crap.

I want to support Magic and Pelinka but they're looking like a disaster combination so far

It's a negotiation, they (Brookyn) probably never requested Deng, you can't shove him down their mouth...

Hopefully we can find a sucker to take Deng's contract; because that's exactly what it will take.

Would this work to get rid of Deng's contract?

Cavs: Jimmy Butler, Luol Deng - They become faster with Love gone. Butler, Deng, and Lebron can switch on defense. Deng can play some PF as well. Deng is better defensively against the Warriors than Love.

Bulls: Kevin Love, 2017 #27, 2017 #28 - they get an all star PF for their own all star and pick up 2 first round picks.

Lakers: Iman Shumpert, Channing Frye - Straight salary dump. Lakers give up their picks at the end of the first round to get Deng's contract off the books. Lakers then go out and buy a couple 2nd round picks from Sixers and/or Celtics.

Me and MLK had a dream and here's mine:

1. Clippers want to dump D. Jordan's salary fine, Lakers will take it, give you a 20ppg Center in return (Lopez) and throw in a future 2nd round pick.

2. Next, the Pacers ain't getting any better offers than Deng, Randle and the two 2017 First Rounds (#27 & #28).

3. After next season Lebron signs with the Lakers as they have freed up Cap money (dumping Deng & MosGov).

4. Since you can't have a veteran team coached by someone who is still a rookie coach and since Phil Jackson will have been fired, you bring him back to preach Defense and perhaps even the Triangle...

The (2018-2019) Lakers starting 5 look like this:

PG: Ball
SG: Ingram
SF: George
PF: LeBron
C: Jordan

Bring on the Warriors...

Why does the FO think Lebron would only play with one other max-level player? We'd need three max-level slots at the very least to appease King Frontrunner.

Ingram and Ball will be all-stars* by then, duh.

*They'll both be traded for players of Lebron's choosing

FYI, Jordan has a player option next summer. And if Jordan didn't opt out, Lebron would have to take a paycut to join up.

Well, Idk why we are so upset with the plan. If most fans agree with Luke Walton that we are in no position to compete with the Warriors in the next season, having nice cap to sign great free agents in 2018 does not sound very bad. If Lonzo turns out to be a good pick, Lakers will have enough compensation for exchanging DLO and Mogov with another center whose contract expires in 2018 giving lakers with the cap needed.

While I am no fan of Lebron, the possibility of having Paul George, Lebron as free agents plus the young core of Ingram, Lonzo and the rest sounds a good paln for the Lakers.
