If one takes anything away from this move, it's the following: draft picks, even for lottery teams, are gambles. Just because you have the #1 overall, that doesn't mean said player will succeed. No draft pick (potential, upside, futures) is worth proven (current all star) success. Russell wasn't the next cp3 or steph curry, but maybe Lonzo Ball is...we'll see. But even Ball is currently a gamble and should be considered as "futures."
The Lakers need a player like PG13. Hopefully we can somehow get him, and surround him with a young core of players. |

And they have been saying repeatedly only 2 of the last 15 #2 picks have even become allstars let alone league stars. I have no idea how Magic will pan out leading the front office over the next 2 or 3 years. But, one area where I trust him is his judgement regarding the ability and ceiling of a point guard. He has had since February up close on a day to day basis to form an opinion. So, we dumped the Moz contract and move forward from here.
I do wish DLo the best. Hope he can establish himself and help the Nets climb out of the basement where they've been for so long now. Easier road for him in the East. |

Shouldn't be too hard considering George has told the Pacers and other teams in the league that he will only sign with the Lakers.
The only way Magic can screw it up is if he guts the roster to trade for PG. The guy does not want to come to a depleted team. Dlo has his same agent, so Magic has already made one mistake. _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss |

He didn't make mistake as far as the agent is concerned. He sent his client to the largest media market in the Country. |

The way things are moving, its going to be Ball and half a team of G-League fillers. _________________

Yup! I am glad Magic held firm and did not give away the farm.
Good move by him and I love the draft! _________________ R.I.P. Doc Buss |

Dlo was going to be #3 in the pecking order here if PG comes over. At the Nets he'll be #1 and should get the green light. |
