I've seen him make some good decisions on the floor with the ball and without the ball, setting up his teammates and playing some really solid defense.
All jokes aside, Ingram did not shoot this well in last years summer league and truth be told hasn't proved to shoot this well yet so far. I'm sure he's improved, but I believe Kuzma gives us added depth and versatility. Can you picture these lineups in a game.
Ball + KCP + Ingram + Kuzma + Randle
"Who Let the Dogs Out" that is a fast paced offense that many, may not want to contend against, not to mention that they are huge... You could also do this.
Ball + Ingram + Kuzma + Randle + Nance Jr.
I think this lineup is even worse to go up against. Ingram and Kuzma can definitely guard on the wings so they would have a significant height advantage over and guards up top.
He's going to be special as a player for the Lakers and add leverage to our team in more ways than one.
It is only Summer League, but I believe this has been one of the better summer leagues in years, not just for the Lakers, but teams are playing older veteran players to get them more experience and help mature their younger guys so it makes for stiffer competition. This has been a great summer for the Lakers, the best in a long time... |

At this point if you were fielding a lineup that prioritized long range shooting with some base level of competence to defend your respective position, you would be playing Lonzo, KCP, Ingram, Kuzma and Lopez.
Rebounding would be a problem, Ingram's shooting for a SF is still in question and having three starters with a combined one season of experience is a tough starting point. But that group would be above average overall in spacing, give you great defensive length and play a strong transition game. _________________ Austin Reaves keeps his game tight, like Kobe Bryant on game night. |

That's my preferred line-up. One iso guy in Ingram to bail you out on a short clock. Everyone else can make open shots.
The rebounding issue is somewhat overrated with Zo's impact on the glass, too. |

That James Worthy spin move for the baseline flush...
Who's responsible for drafting this guy?
He definitely deserves a raise. _________________ Trade AD now. |

Yeah our scouting department is still top-tier.
Anyone know if Ryan West is still on our staff? |

[quoteKuzma Name Meaning Ukrainian and Belorussian: from the personal name Kuzma, Greek Kosmas, a derivative of kosmos ‘universe’, ‘(ordered) arrangement’. St. Cosmas, martyred with his brother Damian in Cilicia in the early 4th century ad, came to be widely revered in the Eastern Church. Slovenian (also Küzma): from the personal name Kuzma, Küzma, dialect forms of Kozma, Greek Kosmas (see 1 above). The spelling Küzma come from easternmost Slovenia.[/quote]

By all accounts he was a combine darling. It could just be as simple as Magic and Pelinka falling in love with him there. |

Watching Kuz's highlights, I thought of the 2006 Phoenix playoff series that Tim Thomas killed us in. His overall career left a lot to be desired because of mental issues and lack of dedication to the game more than anything, but as far as playing style goes, Kuz actually reminds me of him a bit. |

Heard Jesse Buss, who was also the one behind Nance and a few others. |

He must put a lot of emphasis on intangibles because Nance Jr, and now Kuzma, are from that same mold, and so is Hart. The only area that concerns me about Nance Jr is his health.
Great recognition Jesse! |

Was Ryan West involved as well? I know he started off as our assistant director of scouting.

Sounds like he is the Buss that should be running the Lakers. _________________ Naz Reid or Brooks Lopez are a must in the 2023 offseason! |

Kuz baseline move, his seemingly perfect timing on outlets & cuts, his def and adequate rebounding, his passing ability and ball handling...MAN!
He is THE STEAL of the draft. Have yet to create a twitter account but I may just to give him props directly. (Still think he should change his jersey # to 27)
If he shows out tonight and matches his SPL avgs - Nance will have to be relegated to 2 pf off the bench. (& I really like Nance) |

With Ingram, Lonzo and Hart out, Kuzma now the alpha of the group tonight for the title game (sorry Zu). Will be interested in how he handles the role. Should be aggressive but not takes things into ISO too much. Look for shooters and keep the pace up. Will also be interested in how he shows up on the boards. Can't let us get destroyed down there. _________________ Austin Reaves keeps his game tight, like Kobe Bryant on game night. |

I thought Mitch ID'd Nance when his son went to Wyoming or something |

I like the comparison. Tim Thomas was much more talented coming out of college, but the role-player Tim Thomas became is very reminiscent of Kuzma right now. |

Any concerns with his lack of contact on screens and his rebounding? |

Kuzma made All Summer League 2nd team. Should have been 1st team, but congrats to the young man nonetheless. _________________ 14-5-3-12 |

With no Ball, tonight should be a nice test for Kuzma. First game without him. _________________ LakersGround's Terms of Service
