with Pop being the coach, i don't think he'll coach up Kuz on any plays to benefit the Lakers down the road. in fact, he'll talk up Kuz to be more of an one dimension chucker.

As much as I agree that Pop pretty much dislikes the Lakers, he's a player's coach and will coach that player to the best of his abilities. You never know if that player ends up playing for you, and when you do a job well done you always come out ahead.
With Cousins out, he's gonna get 5 more shots a game that he wouldn't have got otherwise.
Kid's gonna eat. Production will be there. Efficiency is the question mark.
And defense. But I'm rooting for Kuz even though he was the most expendable out of Lonzo/BI/#4.
Yes sir! And lack of screen setting, you can count on Kuz to slip the screen all the time, mainly because he wants to get a shot up...sigh
https://youtu.be/zjn_zGSoMOc?t=63 Tatum is a stick compared to Kuz. But Tatum is expected to play some 4. Kuz gotta get it together on defense
Tatum looking like Kobe offensively. Once he polishes up and becomes more efficient, he's gonna be a problem.
watch the full vid. I'm a Tatum believer but he underwhelmed here to me and Kuz was the won it to me
I watched the whole video. Tatum impressed me more than kuz. Kuz hit more jumpers, and used his size, but Tatum had more creating moves to get his jumper. More arsenal to his offensive repertoire. He was doing fake spin - fade away, head fake fade away, fake shot drive, jab step fade away, etc... He was doing some of Kobe's patton moves. Once he is able to finish, he's gonna be a problem. He's gonna need dedication to his craft and repetition. Tatum showed his potential here if he works on his craft. He also was good on defense.
Tatum is also much much younger than Kuz and already a more efficient player. There’s no comparison here in my opinion. There is a reason why Tatum is penciled in as a starter on team USA and the much older Kuz is not
Kuz - 10 min 3 of 4, 75% fg, 7 pts, 4 reb, 1 ast 1 TO, +11
Tatum - 16 min 6 of 8, 75% fg 17 pts, 4 reb, 1 ast, 3 TO, +18
USA vs Spain
Kuz - 17 min 3 of 6, 50% fg, 7 pts, 5 reb, 3 ast, 2 TO, +13
Tatum - 22 min 3 of 9, 33% fg, 11 pts, 5 reb, 4 ast, 2 stl, 1 blk, 3 TO, +7
Not bad for a 27th pick vs a 3rd pick. Tatum might have a higher ceiling since is 2.5 yrs younger, but base on the number of years played in the NBA Kuz is holding his own.
I love their announcers! _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns".
We've been tough on Kuz b/c he's flamboyant and the lone survivor from the YUTES.
But I still have hope for him and we sometimes forget his rough upbringing in Flint and the fact he was a 27th pick (not high on draft boards) that the Lakers did well in picking.
I hope he kills it this year. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals
All of his 3’s were catch and shoot which is good too. Nice form as well
Yup. Liked see decisive catch and shoots. No pump fakes and taking it to the rim against bigs, etc. He will get a lot of open catch and shoots. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals
I’m not talking about the haters, but it’s strange that some people want to see Kuz in that 6th man role so bad. The truth is, the Lakers need him to POP if they want any chance at winning a title and have some youth moving forward.

With Cousins out, Kuz most definitely has to play like a 3rd star, banana...whatever you want to call it.
He has to produce like a 3rd star imo. He is capable.
If Kuzma can get back to rookie efficiency, which is not a stretch to think, and he can put up consistent defensive effort, he's the 3rd star.
We'll still miss Boogie but in terms of having a closing 5: AD/Kuz/LeBron/Green/Bradley or KCP or Cook or Iggy(?). Efficient Kuz gives us the star power within the that 5 man group.
