Is that ring lower than an NBA standard hoop or did he use some VC on his vertical? I know he's been working on his leg muscles but never thought you could actually improve jumping in real life. Handles also looking tighter.

I was at this yesterday, it was a lot of fun. He was going at like 25% speed in the first half, and since he was the only NBA player on the court, every non-NBA guy (who were pretty good, don't get me wrong) was going 100% to give him buckets. And they did.

Then in the second half Kuz turned up the intensity a bit and his team won. He played the entire game and I'm guessing he finished with 30/12/12 or somewhere around that.

It was All-Star game intensity for most of it though, so don't read too much into of that.

Kuzma looks like he's getting more air on his dunks in those clips and looks more effortless going up on those dunks. His first step off the dribble still needs work though.

It’s always hard to tell if a player is jumping higher or if the rim isn’t legit 10feet, in other gyms. It’s often like 9’10, a lot of dunkers on Insta always measure and post it.. I’ve seen a lot of clips of NBA players dunking crazy in other gyms
Everybody in this gym for the 2014 draft workouts broke the rim

Stu - "That's just bad defense, man... that's all that is."

Can we send this old, crusty, bitter SOB out to pasture already? Jeezus.

Great pass and agreed Stu is a cranky annoying bastard lacking any kind of insightful or technical commentary and is way past his time.

I liked Mychal Thompson’s commentary in the SL!

Isaiah thomas on Kuz:

"Man the league gonna be trippin how much better you got this summer"

“He (Kuzma) is a very underrated guy. The doubt that everybody has for his game is motivation. As someone who works very hard, he’s going to be another special young talent in this league.”

It's only August. He still has a lot of time to get even better and he hasn't even had the chance to work and train with Lebron yet who I imagine he would be badgering everyday for advice.

Slow your roll But yeah, he almost never finished alley-oops with dunks last season. Did not expect that he would actually improve his hops after a couple of months

have you ever seen Lavine, Gordon, Dennis Smith Jr. or Derrick Jones Jr. dunk? also will not be surprised if a rookie or two like Zhaire Smith or Hamidou Diallo join the party this year....Kuz is not on their level of leaping/dunking.

Yeah they forgot their wet blanket.

At around 2:00-2:03 ish, does it look like he got his head at the rim?

I get it could be angles but

If he actually can get there his vert would be 38-40 inches

It was 34 inches in the combine I think

I think his vert is better now just by loosing some of the baby fat he came in with and getting stronger. I don't know if it is at 38 to 40 inches though.

Personally, I love the running hooks he makes. That shot is unguardable. I wonder if he can do it going left as well? I only recall seeing him use his right on that shot.

https://twitter.com/kylekuzma/status/910952323538608129 this was Kuz last summer. great shape as well
His vert shocked me last year. It probably is an inch or 2 higher, although I do think a lot of these gyms they play at in the summer aren't legit 10feet rims
