His perimeter D has been so awful. He bodies up on guards and they just blow right by him

Josh Hart is an old school defensive player. He’s like 20 years too late to the NBA as he would of been a terror to go up against then. He uses his body and strength to play defense without holding or using hands. In today’s game where your not allowed to touch or breath on the other team he struggles. He’s not quick, he’s not tall, he can’t jump that high and he doesn’t have a very good reach. It’s a shame to watch a good defensive player not be able to play any defense because of the rules. Oh well.

He’s struggling right now. Can’t do anything on defense and can’t buy a basket. Feel bad for the dude.

Two bad games in a row after the High Five video has come out. Does anyone think the pressure to connect on High Fives may be getting to Josh?

I think having to guard starting caliber players has gotten to him. Especially when they know he’s starting and have scouted him.

Josh is a perfect weapon off of the bench for 15-20 minutes a game, as a starter...not so much.

He will be 24 this season and they (FO & Luke) might be looking to decide on a long term starting SG next summer. Hart's window of opportunity might not be open much longer.

There's a projection where from age 24-28 is the 2nd tier of critical development, and it turns 6th men into starters.

https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/billuch01.html (Started most games but ridiculously injury prone for 4 years into the league)

https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/s/sabondo01.html (On his way)

Most recent case:

Gordon Hayward 1 year early.

Even our own.

Kind of where Josh would be if the Lakers didn't have such a strong core:
https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/c/covinro01.html

Outlier development
https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/h/hardeja01.html

https://www.basketball-reference.com/players/b/butleji01.html

My point with all of these links is:
1. I don't think they're looking at a specific position through FA, just BPA.
2. It's possible that Hart is the long term solution still, and it pays off well.

It would seem that Hart would benefit from playing at a lower weight.

You're killing our net rating Josh!
It's as if you want to come off the bench.

He's been really bad lately. Like really bad. I just witnessed Carroll blow by him like he wasn't even there. DeMarre Carroll....

Josh has hit the wall. He probably overachieved for the first few games he started when Ingram got injured. It will be good for him to go back to bench.

He’s only had one good game since BI got injured and it was against the Grizzlies, he’s been terrible since then.

He’s been on a downward trend from month to month in terms of his 3 point shooting. Pretty much a steady decline. His last five games (except for the Houston game) have been very ugly. Really hoping this is a slump and not him getting scouted/regressing to the mean after a hot start.

I don't have the stats on me to back it up but it seems to me he completely lost his rhythm/touch since his ankle injury and is yet to recover.

He will be alright. Just hitting a rough patch like all young players.

He's actually losing the game for us defensively. Holy crap. The Nets are just picking on him.

They’re actively seeking out Kuzma and Hart. Basically running screens over and over until they force a switch onto one of them and then they attack.

Yeah hart hasn’t exactly wowed with his latest 5 game stint. Theyre going to go back to BI. I hope they stagger him with lbj more though.
