Did he play well? Attacking right? He really needs to be a solid shooter, he said he didn't shoot it well in his pro-day workout.. mechanics don't look great from 3. Intersting prospect if he can shoot

Man he got hammered on that play. Turned and ankle and got a boot to the face and was still trying to walk it off.

I just hope he's okay. He was great today on defense, and was doing a fine job finishing through contact.

We was very solid tonight; smart, good defense and hustle.

6-13 FG, 1-5 trey, 2-2 FT, 5 reb , 15 points.

Josh Hart suffered a mild ankle sprain on that transition layup. He’ll be re-evaluated tomorrow. He had 15 points on 6 of 13 FG’s.

Loved his game today. What a steal at the end of the first round. He was poised, gritty, crafty (almost vet like in his presence).

I can't wait for you to be eating your words on Hart - the dude is going to be an absolute 2 way stud in 1-2 years and IMO has a real chance of making a big impact this year - dude shot like 40% from 3 in college and was Novas best defensive player on a team of great defenders. The ONLY reason Hart didn't go in the top 15 was the fact he stayed 4 years to chase another championship and for some reason that scares teams away so they can take on 19 year olds

At one time I used to think every Lakers draftee was destined to become a star but have come to a sad realization that 99.99% of these guys are going to be busts. I just don't see Hart being an exception cause he lacks the consistent jump shot to stick in the league.

I think we made a HORRIBLE mistake not drafting Derrick White, who is exactly the prototypical SG we needed. But I do hope Hart proves me wrong cause he does seem like a good kid.

I wouldn't be surprised to see him start next season. He seems to have great chemistry with Ball already.

I said before that Hart can easily start for this team if no better SG is signed this offseason. He's good enough on both ends to do so with Clarkson as 6th man.

Once Hart gets better at hitting 3s, he's basically Byron Scott 2.0.

He proved me right, actually.

I said when he was drafted that he's at his best around the basket and open court, he made like 4 layups.

I said he's not good at catch and shoot, shot just 1-for-5 from 3pt.

I said he's not good at shooting over defenders, tried a pull-up that got rejected badly.

Also had 2 boneheaded turnovers.

Hart's upside at it's highest imo is 2005-2009 Rip Hamilton.

I think you may be right there.

2005-2009 Rip Hamilton

PPG: 18.9
RPG: 3.4
APG: 4.0
Field Goal: 47.3%
Three Point: 40.2%

I think at Josh Hart's best and highest ceiling that's close. I think it may be 16-17 instead of 18.9, but the rebounds on point the assists maybe at 3 but in Luke's offense and lots of hockey assists it may be. As far as 47% from the field and 40% from three, I think for Hart at his peak ceiling it could be a percentage higher or less on either side. And yes as you said, a better defender.

Hart is a winner. Makes all the right plays. Effective with finishing with contact. Only knock is average athleticism but Lonzo makes up for that by getting him the ball in scoring position or with a step on his guy.

I was really happy with his defense on Jaylen Brown. When Hart matched up vs Brown on defense, he wasn't buying anything that Brown was selling and forced him into some contested missed jumpshots. Showed good footwork and anticipation on those challenges and didn't bite on any of Brown's shake and bake.

I thought Hart played Jaylen Brown to a tie. Him and Nwaba are our perimeter defensive pitbulls

Yeah, some folks were falling over themselves about Jaylen Brown and how well he was playing at the end of last season. For Hart to guard as well as he did was pretty impressive. And I think he wanted that assignment. We're obviously going to miss Lou's and Nick's offense, but Hart and Nwaba defend at a much greater level than those 2. Hopefully these 2 guys will be able to provide some offense to compliment the defense. In transition alone, Ball should be able to amplify their offense.
