Are you worried? This isn’t a good sign to me. These are supposed to be 2 of our best shooters.

You know what's funny? If Hart made one more of his 10 3's, he'd be shooting 40%, and you'd be hyped.

No because what worries me is the lack of consistency

Most teams have those 2 guys that you know are money whenever they get an open look from 3. We don’t seem to have that.

I am more worried about consistency. I’m not seeing Hart or any of these guys knock down multiple open looks in a row

Please do tell who these guys are? They shoot 100%, 90%, maybe 80% from three in a course of a 82 game season? We need to trade for these guys.

There are nights Curry will go 7-10 from threes. Then there are nights he goes 2-10. And at the end of the 2018 season, Curry shot 42% from three.

What is your definition of consistency?

Well I just did some research and as a team we were 4th worse in the league last season on open 3s

I compared Hart’s open and wide open 3pt% to a few players on our team as well as some of the best shooters in the league. All percentages are from last season

Josh Hart
Open 3pt% 39.3
Wide open 3pt% 41.0

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope
Open 3pt% 36.1
Wide open 3pt% 43.9

Brandon Ingram
Open 3pt% 37.5
Wide open 3pt% 40.4

Kyle Kuzma
Open 3pt% 36.5
Wide open 3pt% 39.0

LeBron James
Open 3pt% 34.1
Wide open 3pt% 42.3

Kevin Durant
Open 3pt% 37.4
Wide open 3pt% 56.8

Paul George
Open 3pt% 37.7
Wide open 3pt% 47.1

Jayson Tatum
Open 3pt% 40.8
Wide open 3pt% 46.6

Klay Thompson
Open 3pt% 43.1
Wide open 3pt% 50.5

Steph Curry
Open 3pt% 43.2
Wide open 3pt% 47.5

Kyle Korver
Open 3pt% 45.1
Wide open 3pt% 49.2

Seems like the elite shooters hit above 45% on wide open attempts.
Redick shot 49% wide open FWIW.

This is a serious question? I guess we shouldn’t focus on Kuzma who has been struggling mightily.

KCP will be fine, he seems like a real slow-burner at the beginning of a season, that said, Hart deserves the spot because he gets to the rim better then KCP imo and defensively I think his body is more suited for taking some tough assignments.

Its 2 games of preseason ball. It means nothing. KCP is a nice player who played very well for us after his legal troubles were behind him. I am not th least bit worried about him. Josh is incredible and is getting better by leaps and bounds (his confidence on both sides of the ball is off the charts). Normally, you would expect this growth from a kid who bounced after his Freshman year and not from a four year collegiate player. I think it would be easier to keep Warren Sapp out of the fridge after a night of chronic than keeping Josh out of the starting lineup. The bottom line it is a nice problem to have and who starts really does not matter. The more important thing is who finishes and depending on each particular game, Luke will have a multitude of options at his disposal.

Same was true last year for sure. Started playing a lot better by Jan/Feb. At the beginning of the season, I went back to a thread about him on RealGM by Pistons fans at least a couple of times to ponder the posts by the handful of people who were sad to see him go. I knew I had to be missing something.

Lakers have been lax in the preseason ever since Phil got here and they went 2-6 that first year and looked terrible. I have various old preseason games from the Riley, Dunleavy, Pfund, and Harris years and they all showed evidence of them riding starters more in order to get them in shape than was shown in the Phil or Luke years for sure. Lakers used to schedule marquee games vs BOS, CHI, at MSG, etc that were approached like RS games. People in and out of the league are more hip than ever to it being a rather useless exercise. In those years, they had games at Boston, NY, UNC, Miami, St. Louis, Memphis St, Michagan St, Honolulu, Paris, etc. Now they don't cross the Mason-Dixon line in the preseason, probably won't bother with Hawaii ever again, and don't even play 8 games and Luke is playing Bron in the first half and he may not even play in all 6. Barkley was the first one who was ragging on the preseason as a thing in the 90s. Said it was another excuse to make money off of the fans.

Disengaged? A player comes into a training camp disengaged, when we have LeBron James on the team, competition for every other starting spot on the roster, plus a short training camp, followed by a regular season where every game start to finish is going to have playoff seeding ramifications? Any player coming to camp disengaged deserves to sit on the bench or perhaps belongs on another team.

Kuzma isn't disengaged. He's playing center, and he's way out of his league in terms of strength right now, banging up against Jokic in particular. He's getting beat up while he's learning a position he hasn't played since high school, at NBA speed, against a very good center. That's a far cry from 'disengaged.'

I don't think KCP is disengaged either for what it's worth. I think he's trying to adjust to the new play sets we're using when LeBron is on the floor.

Small sample size with the starting unit, but I like it. Guess we'll see, but Hart fits like a glove, IMO.

What hart has over kcp is athleticism, youth, but most of all, the ability to finish at the rim. Finishing well around the rim is huge when you're expecting to identify your team and unit with running fast. It also diversifies your unit when all your players are threats equally from perimeter and inside. Kcp is good and all but hart is basically better in all aspects minus maybe experience in the league.

Josh Hart is the starter now. Its not even (bleep) close.

Even if Josh Hart wasn’t playing this great, KCP has kept digging his own grave with his horrible play on both sides.

Well since David West gave him the MOFO seal of approval, he'll be the starter the rest of the season.

Next step in his development is to look for opportunities to kick out to shooters on the weak side for a 3. He almost always looks to finish on his drives. He’s a very good finisher tho, so not complaining
