Lakers added Indiana big man Thomas Bryant, who improved his vertical 13 inches in one year while also adding to his defensive arsenal.

This is nice to point to, when people for some reason doubt a player under 20's ability to improve athletically.

Get him in a gym with NBA coaches and get him doing squats n he could be something. His legs are very underdeveloped

let's hope Gunnar adds another 13

I kind of get the feeling Zubac is gonna do to him what Gasol did to Jordan Hill so that people remember who he is, and why he was highly coveted

I think he'll be a great eventual solid backup for Zubac though, and definitely a great part of a bench unit with Larry at the 4 and Nwaba at the 2.

This kid is going to be a good compliment to Zubac. Watch his pre-draft workout video. He's got a lot of skill for a 6-11 kid who can also play in the paint. Also, you can already tell he's shed some weight.

That's why he's fell to 42, lateral mobility/feet

TBryant (#42) not my favorite pick. I wish the Lakers could have moved up in the 2nd round to grab Bell (#38) or Semi (#37). Warriors did a nice job again in the 2nd round buying Bell at 38. Overall good draft by Lakers.

I hope they bring back KAJ. Looks like he will have two pupils to mentor in Zu/TBryant. I expect TBryant to be one of the two two-way contracts. He will be spending all his time in the GLeague.

Supposedly he's already improved it this summer. He has some like strength imbalances in his core and lower body - can possibly alleviate the issue with strength training like Myles Turner did. T.Bryant gained 13" vert in one year, that's possible when have severe strength deficits and stuff

I see, sounds like he's actually not fully grown yet. We shall see. 13" improvement... crazy, sounds like those strap on shoe front wedge commercial in the 90s (I bought a pair... didn't help at all)

In the workout video, he's already looks like he's improved his mobility, while also dropping weight. Add in the fact that he's a year younger than his class and there's a lot of potential for a big like him.

Lolol I remember those. I'm hopeful for this kid, his length and shooting is a rare combo. Stroke is beautiful

Bryant? Diaw?
I like Bryant's stroke a lot, think he could hit Speight's shooting as a ceiling there, and also protect the rim --- both are bad defending the P&R

Kuzma could be a modern Diaw type

Yeah, I meant Bryant but I could be reaching.

Always liked Diaw's skills and overall game, if he could have stayed in top shape and been more aggressive, he could do some things.

Ya he could have been crazy fun to watch, still was when he'd have a good game. I'm partial to ball handling 4s. And then add passing , too! Kuzmas got it

Love Bryant's value at 42. If he manages to improve his feet, he has starting potential

Young center that has

How did he fall to 42? He seems to have all that you would want in a lottery pick.

I think there are a lot of issues defensively he's going to have to overcome at the next level. He's got to work on that mobility/lateral speed and is not an effective anchor despite his size. He appears to be a hard worker -- dropped 20 pounds after freshman year and added 13 inches to his vert as mentioned (really no where to go but up and could use another 4 inches or so to make him more effective). But I think that's what kept his stock lower than maybe you'd expect.

I cringe when I watch him play. Every time he moves it looks like he's gonna break something.

This workout is quite impressive, his mobility is definitely improving - and like Pelinka said, his motor/conditioning is really impressive

That workout is basketball porn for a 42nd bigman pick. great value
