Bryant will make his debut in the same day Bryant numbers are retired. Sweet...
Even with Brook going down Luke still wants to play Randle at center. I know he's our best rebounder but the paint becomes a highway on defense. _________________ "Suck it up. Don't be a baby. Do your job." - Kobe Bryant

So I watched youtube highlights of TB from his Gleague games. Man can he play.
He shoots the 3 way better than brook! And he is quite mobile. My goodness. Why on earth is he not getting PT?
He is too good for G-league. He needs experience vs real NBA bigs.
He doesn't provide enough effect for help D + box out/rebounds to compensate for lateral mobility.
Everyone is going to say lateral mobility, but it doesn't stop Lopez, Zubac, or Bogut from getting PT. Lopez can compensate with some defensive presence and play big in the paint. Zubac is spotty. Bogut sets screens. Thomas Bryant... ? _________________ Resident Car Nut.

I remember in a LFR game recap about 2 weeks ago, Lopez was commended for switching and succeeding on one play. And there's just a vet savy about defending in space that he and Bogut have - and like you said Bogut is proven at the rim defending. Lopez is as well, at least solid. Zubac drops too low when guards come off the pick , but he still slides once at 12ft and contests well if he doesn't foul. The above video of Bryant is just egregious. Lopez is more mobile than that, somehow. I hope Bryant has improved past that point, becuase idk if you can play that - and teams didn't know if they could draft that - despite his 3ball, length , and age

So his celling is...Mo Speights?
He's got way more motor. With given minutes, he could be a "prime Speights" within the next few years. I think TB's upside is considerably higher, but Speights is the general mold of you want to make that his role/archetype. _________________ Resident Car Nut.

+1
Also, TB doesn't seem likely to go full Sam Perkins like Speights has - better workout habits on top of the better motor.
But his lateral agility is a real struggle too. Will make it tough for him to guard on switches. _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals
Question for those that have been watching Bryant in the G-League.
How are his defensive instincts and anticipation?
Enough to overcome his "lateral quickness" issues? Especially considering he seems to be a high energy and effort player. Is he making the right reads and getting into position or a step slow in his decision making too?
