Deng - 18
Clarkson - 12.5
BI - 5.7
Randle - Cap Hold
Nance - 2.2
Zubac - 1.5

Ball - ?
Kuzma - ?
Hart - ?
Bryant - ?

we'll have 1 second rounder next year but no first rounder.

do we still need to clear out space to sign PG13 outright?

What if we stretch Deng, or are able to unload him in a trade?

Glad you asked. If we stretch Deng, we drop to only $47.5 M. My math was salaries minus tax, not minus cap. IF the cap is $105 we have almost $60 after we stretch Deng.

If we move JC, we drop to $35 M, with $70 M in room.

I think you have the wrong year for the rookie scale. Lonzo will also get 120% of the scale as all the other guys have gotten I would expect. $7,461,960 in 2018-2019.

Batguano wrote:

Including Lonzo, #27, #30 all getting 120% of the scale I have a total obligation of $56.45M if we keep Deng and $45.81 if we stretch him. If the cap is $103 M that is $46.554M cap space or $56.840

$18,000,000
$12,500,000
$5,757,120
$5,564,134
$7,461,960
$2,272,390
$1,544,951
$1,655,160
$1,689,840

$56,445,555

so assuming our cap is 103, how much do we have open if we keep deng and then if stretch deng (with lonzo 120%)

and how much is LBJ and PG13 max?

We are gonna be $10 million short even if we stretch Deng. Full price for those two is $67M. If we trade for Paul George, and he agrees to pick up his option, it all works out perfectly though. That has to be the ultimate plan.

Thought it was more like $6 M at most for Ball in 18-19: http://basketball.realgm.com/nba/info/rookie_scale

But yes, mid-50s to mid-40s depending on stretching Deng.

Now, if we go whole hog and move JC and JR we drop to $24 M and that means 2 30s and a 20 to add to Ball, Ingram, Zub, Nance, Other Rookies.

Ball, PG13 ($35), Lebron ($35), Ingram, Zub, Super Sub ($10)

I think that is the previous years scale. Here is next years: http://basketball.realgm.com/nba/info/rookie_scale/2018

$6.2M * 120%

Or they both accept $30M in hopes they can keep some talent around them.

We can let Randle walk and open up $5.56M.

He already did it to go to Miami. So it's probably doable.

Randle cap hold is going to be a lot more than his qualifying offer. Iirc, somewhere in the 12 range. Part if the new cba.

Basically Clarkson or Randle half to go.

I wonder if the Lakers can get a slightly cheaper deal to stretch at the deadline in a swap with Deng.

They also changed the rookie cap hold to 120% of the scale. Now teams won't have any reason to wait until the last moment to ink their rookies. Randle's cap hold will be 300% of $4.149. LINK

If we keep Randle, and sign him after all other deals using Bird rights:
$39.7M/ $49.96M Deng/ Stretch Deng

If we renounce Randle: $52M/$62M ($1.5-$2M less for all these due to minimum roster spot holds as well.)

wont work without rondo. i suppose we could buy out rondo at that point or just eat his salary. but it'd only be 1 year so who cares.

i don't even know how much salary we'd clear up with all 3 gone, but i'm guessing we'd be sitting at around 80M in cap???

And this is why the Lakers do not have to trade Randle and two first round prospects for Paul George. They can let these guys all play for another year, and at the end of the day, can renounce Randle and stretch Deng and still have 60 million to spend on two max guys next summer. What if Randle develops and take his game to the next level next season, then you consider keeping him and moving Clarkson or at the least getting a future pick for Randle next year at the deadline. Plus they get to keep two rookies taken at 27/30.

None of this was possible without the DLo/Mozgov deal everyone hated. That contract had to go.

I think we'll get to see what he's made of. DLO gone, trade rumors swirling. I heard he wants to remain in LAn, so let's see what he can do.
