Rob talking like Brook is going to be here long term. There's one of our max players sitting right there then.
What's he supposed to say with Brook sitting next to him? "He'll be a great player for us, but what we're really looking forward to is that fat contract coming off the books next summer so we can sign LeBron!" Rob is not going to throw a guy under the bus at his introductory press conference. Same way Mitch didn't throw Hibbert under the bus when we acquired him for the same purpose.
everybody knew Hib was a sad sack coming in I guess realistically Brook is a top 10 Center and he does stretch the floor, who else are we going to get next season anyway?

“If Roy has a good to great year, and we can bring him back at 28 years old,” Kupchak said, “I don’t know why he can’t be part of that core.”
GM speak.
Except he sucked.
Right, it just so happens Lopez is a better player on a similar expiring contract than Hibbert was. That doesn't mean they weren't acquired precisely for that reason.
It's telling that Pelinka mentioned one of the benefits of the Brooklyn trade was cap space in 2018 to "add two max players."
Why would cap space be a factor in acquiring Brook if they just intend to keep and max him out? That's just retaining a player, not freeing up a slot to sign one. I might need to teach a class on draft smokescreens and front office double-speak at LG University.
The budding storyline no one is talking about: the potential bromance between Kareem and Brook; two intellectual, offensively gifted seven-footers. Maybe Cap can show him a few pointers after they start a book club together.
Pretty dope to see so many players who really want to be here. Hibbert was done...Deng is probably done too...Lopez seems like he's all about being here, not just check cashing. _________________ "If You're Afraid To Fail...Then You're Probably Going To Fail."

does laker nation have the power to make brock lopez an all star this year? _________________ "There's only 2 dudes better than me, and I'm BOTH OF THEM."

Pelinka commented on BLO already being involved with the team. Some other vets took their time coming in and to be involved with the team like Deng last year and not being involved at all when they were benched.

The ASG is in LA so there is a chance if he can average close to 20 ppg 5.5 bpg 2.5 apg. Besides Anthony Davis "if healthy" who else in the west is a shoe in to make the ASG?
Mike Trudell: Any first impressions from the young talent?
Brook Lopez: I was impressed. I was definitely impressed by Brandon Ingram. He caught me by surprise with his game. He's phenomenal out there. I got to play with Lonzo a couple days ago. He's just court vision. The way he ran, our team was impressive, you know for obviously being such a young guy literally first day in the gym. His basketball IQ is off the charts.

He averaged 21/5/2 in 29 minutes. PER 36 he is a 25/7/3 guy.
I'm happy if Black is gone.. I wasn't really a fan of his.
I know he was a favorite on here but if I had to choose between Robinson and Black (and mind you, I'm talking about an end of the bench big..) I take Robinson every day and twice on Sunday.
Black just.. irked me. Every ball fumble.. every fifteen headfakes.. I was just over it lol. His salary might have a tiny bit to do with it too tho haha.
But, I'm absolutely stoked about Brook. I can envsion some Dirk style trailing 3 pointers in the Lakers future with all the speed we'll likely have in the front court.
Also he can slow the game down a little bit.. so it'll make up for Ball's alleged lack of half-court offense.
I mean.. I don't think the Lakers will keep Julius in light of all the speculation about teams going after Paul George.. but if they do keep him.. it should give him quite a bit of room to work with given that Brook can stretch the floor.
Brook Lopez has been in the gym the past three days working with the Lakers young guys. _________________ Nobody in the NBA can touch the Laker brand, which, like the uniform color, is pure gold.
