Lopez appears to be just going through the motions, like he doesn't care. The one thing that pisses me off more than anything else is when NBA players miss easy shots. Lopez, for the past few games, has been missing uncontested 3 footers, and it doesn't seem like he cares.

So for the folks worrying that Brook would be asking for a 20m/year extension, I think that's probably not going to be a problem?

Totally disagree. Watch him on defense. He contests everything.

Yep.
And the way he looked upset on the bench after his bad 1st quarter seems to show that he cares.

Yeah. He's not playing well, but he cares. He was frustrated leaving the game early in the first yesterday for Bogut; if he didn't care, I don't think he would act like he does.

Brook Lopez: Contests a league-high 14.9 shots per game.

• Lopez is a key reason why the Lakers rank third in the NBA in blocks and first in contested shots through 20 games.

I did not expect this. Nice.

he still isn't coming back for a coach that has no flipping idea how to use him.

I don't understand how we turn a perennial 20 point per game guy into a13.8 per game guy. Even his fg percentage is way down. This team is where vets come to die. This is the third season we are forcing small ball and it just does not seem to be working. I suppose putting Randle at center is a start in the right direction.

I think there's two reasons, the first is that he's only shooting 30.9% from three and taking 6.2 per game, and he's playing far fewer minutes than he has in the past.

His Per 36 minute numbers are slightly down from years past but not by a huge margin, he averaged 21.2, 22, 24.9 and now 21 points per 36 in the past 4 years. His blocks/36 are the highest of his career. Rebounds are slightly up from last years number (6.5 to 7.1). Assists are slightly down from last season (2.9 to 2.7) but above every other season in his career. The main difference is that the three point attempts not falling. He's shooting 51.7% on his two point attempts, which is right where he has been most of his career.

Biggest thing is he's playing a career low 23.6 minutes the lowest he's been at in any other season was 27.2 minutes when he played 5 games due to injury. Aside from that he has never been under 29.2.

I don't think Lopez has really dropped off this season. This is who he is.

Do you have a theory about how he should be using Brook or are you basing your conclusion on the outcome?

We need to do more pick and pop plays off Horns in the first quarter to get brook going. He is much better than this. He had some great 30pt games earlier this year. He can replicate that if he gets looks

Gotta think Utah might want Lopez while Gobert is out and might not be the same this season, Lopez can help them for there playoff run.

Luke has no clue how to use this kind of center. Gonna always be that way.

We should trade him to Cleveland for Thompson and the Nets 1st if they are still offering that package for Deandre.

He is using him the correct way, most minutes on the bench.

What is the deal with these one-handed shots he keeps attempting? From the free throw line, for christsakes.

He seems like a great guy and it's obvious he really cares, but he's not the right fit for our uptempo style. Dude looks like he is playing in slow motion, we need a faster center who can join in on the break. His defense is alright, he does contest a lot of shots...but take the fact that he is too slow to participate in a lot of what we are trying to do and add in the fact that he can't shoot 3's anymore apparently...he's not the droid we are looking for. Need to start randle at the 5 and run opponents out of the gym.

Time for him to join Deng. Lets start Randle and put Bryant as his backup. He is completely useless.

STOP with the "he can't play uptempo" falsities.

The Nets were NUMBER 1 IN PACE
when they had him and he put up 20/6 with them.

The difference is that Atkinson knows how to use a center like Lopez and Luke doesn't. It's that simple really.

You’re absolutely right about everything you mentioned except that you’re omitting that Brooklyn had the worst record in the league.

Sure, they had no talent, but can we genuinely profess that Lopez was being used effectively on a team that was extremely, extremely bad.

Lopez got his numbers, Brooklyn was number one in pace, but it’s disingenuous to leave out the fact that the TEAM sucked balls, and it begs the real question: Can he be used effectively at a high pace on a winning team?

at this point he's just an expiring contract. Hopefully some team out there is willing to give us a second rounder for his services.
