Won't overreact. I'm sure Ball will be fine long term.
Yes I'm still a Dlo fan too and can't help but wonder how a BI, Dlo, Jackson/Tatum core wouldve developed.
Watching Fox now and this kid just has an extra gear. Teams won't be able to stay in front of him defensively. |

To draft a guy with a good floor game but average athleticism and one on one scoring ability only works when you have a team full of polished scorers. This laker team clearly lacking in that department, and it makes Lonzo's game that much unbearable to watch. |
As did I. Lonzo is not a bust after 1 game and has [a lot] room to improve but everything that had be on the Lonzo critic camp showed up hard in this game. Much like DLo, his 3 ball is going to have to show up to justify his draft position. That said, if he can develop like Ingram showed, Ball can be a good player in this league. |
Meh, it was a bad shooting night. Wouldn't read so much into it. Lonzo also did many of the things he was touted for, such as controlling the pace and dolling out what would have been 10+ assists had people made their open shots. |
No he didn't. He chucked open threes because no one respected his shot. Did almost nothing off the ball. Couldn't blow by his man and passed out because he wasn't confident at finishing his shot. 90% of his passing was just to someone on the perimeter when he got stonewalled at the arc. Dude didn't do anything of note out there IMO. Hope he shows more tomorrow. |

Lonzo had a bad shooting but overalll I like the way he ran the offense. Could have licked his chops with Marshall in front of him but his passing instinct came first. Everyone inside was yelling shoot and he did but just could not get his 3 ball going. |

Whoupd you do PG for ball straight up right now? Lol |
Scoring will come eventually.
Too early to say perhaps, but as of now main concern may be Lonzo's slowness. |

Yeah. If Lonzo just makes three more 3s people wouldn't be saying anything. He'll find his shot. |
Seems like this board has been overrun by a bunch of 12 year olds TBH. But I know some of the guys posting here have been here a while. I'm out. |
Nothing surprises me. Same way they reacted to Russell...at least Russell was a scorer. I don't think these kids are going to appreciate Lonzo balls game at all cuz he's not a scorer and he's not really flashy at all. It's gonna get brutal for Lonzo |
So I'm not even disagreeing with pick bc one game shows nothing. But given how his skill set is of less flashy kind, why is the FO putting pressure on him to be new face of franchise ? Setting him up for failure with fan base |
Magic wants to bring showtime back. Lonzo is dynamic in transition....now they just need to figure out how to build around him...
I think the order of operations will be
1.). Lonzo finding easy buckets for the team in transition
2.) Luke's offense
3.) when the first two fail we go to Ingram, Lopez, clarkson, randle or ball and allow them to ISO and create something. |

would have rather he took it to Kendall the way Kendall took it to him, being effective and keeping the pressure on the defense while also keeping the ball moving.
That was the difference in their approaches tonight. _________________ How NBA 2K18 failed the All-Time Lakers:

Has to call the shots on everyhing himself. Drives me nuts. |
So much of it is for show and attention. Im sure BI wasnt coming back and there are other ways to tell the coach not to put him in. But, Magic loves to grandstand and the more obvious the decision the more showy he becomes. _________________ Llluuukkkeee |

Yeah that was the most disappointing part. He blew past him twice and could have just layed it in but he kicked it out. I like for him to take advantage of whatever defense gives him. |

Yea because we should judge everyone by their summer league debut. Maybe we should have cut DLO and Ingram after their first summer league games. |
Well,we ended up using DLo for a salary dump anyway _________________ Llluuukkkeee |

lol I find it ironic how a number of the same posters criticizing Lonzos game from tonight to the extent where it appears there's buyers remorse are the same folks who were hooting, hollering to draft him and bashing any poster who dared to suggest the lakers draft anyone else.
Even more ironic is that I'm defending Lonzo despite the fact I preferred the lakers draft Jackson |

I don't think DLO would have settled for second fiddle. _________________ Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

Exactly this. We would have been happy staying put and signing an above average FA to a 1 year deal.

I knew I'd come here and there would be somebody complaining about something. Bryant looked great, BI looks beast mode...so the nervous center of the NBA draft universe was nervous and couldn't hit some shots...still a stud. |
