Alex Caruso will be a difference maker

Quote:
Caruso is far more explosive than any other Lakers guard, he brings something to the table that the Lakers lack.
He will bring energy on both ends, and that’s why it’s important for him to get a large opportunity.

We do seem a little guard heavy, Caruso could be a good player for us, but with Rondo, Cook, Green, KCP, and the guy from Phoenix, we are a little crowded.

The FO may look to package someone in a trade later on; we could use another strong wing defender.

But they say "it's a guard's league right now." ... yes, no, maybe

Green, KCP and Daniels have limited ball handling abilities, so I think that Caruso will get his minutes.

The coming year will know if Caruso can stay in the NBA or not.
He has to give quality minutes.
Just play good defense and hit the open shot.
Because only Bradley of the PGs can play good defense, defense may be
the ticket for Caruso.

I hope our brain trust has the intelligence to play Caruso over Rondo.

I hope Rondo does some coaching with Caruso. RR had to learn to floor General with the big three. We’ve never seen Caruso play point with star talent. If he’s going to give us Point Guard play, he’s going to have to run a unit.

I think his 3 point shooting might be for real. Probably not the 48% clip he shot last season but when you look at his splits, he shot 43% on wide open threes in his first year. The issue was that he literally didn't make ANY threes unless he was wide open. He significantly improved on that in his second year while his wide open shots also jumped by 10%. If that can continue it will make this team more complete.

Rondo will most definitely get minutes, especially when Lebron sits as the initial tendency will be to always have a veteran fall-back option handling the rock. Avery and KCP will otherwise most certainly get minutes especially if they are perceived to be plus-defenders and outside threats. The opportunity for Caruso (outside of load management) will mostly be by virtue of Green sliding over and effectively being our backup SF. In that sense he is basically competing with Quinn, Dudley, and Daniels. Quinn will be his biggest competition due to his familiarity, shooting, and effort (though largely ineffective) on D.

I’d be good with that. Good offensive player with sneaky athleticism and plays tough on defense.

he would already be a game changer if hes simply a solid combo guard defender who shoots 42%ish on 3 pointers
throw in the playmaking and its over

It's a feel good story, hope it works out. My guess, is there will be an injury somewhere along the way with Rondo or Bradley, and that's when Alex can step into the role.
