It was nice to see his teammates actively looking for him when he was on fire in the third. Great game overall by KCP.

About time his teammates were looking for him. He's been shooting the ball well this month.

Too bad we can't resign him. He turned down 5-year/$80M from the Pistons last year so there's no way we can afford him at $18-20M/year if thats his asking price. Or we might have to if he continues to play like this the rest of the season. We'll never know.

It will be interesting to see what actually happens this summer. All the speculation on which players to sign and assumptions on what players will actually ask for and more importantly eventually get paid.

Several Laker players fall into this narrative. In reality we have no clue what players like KCP, Randle, Lopez or even IT will get paid. The common assumption seems to be they all will not fit due to being too expensive.

Depending on how the FO actually spends the cap space these players (one or all) are not horrible choices considering some of the alternatives.

Loved that KCP had such an explosive offensive game. He is quietly having a solid season and having improved career years in several areas. Not opposed to the path maintaining some continuity and re-signing him if the deal is right.

It may not fit the 2max marquee player path but I wonder how the team would respond without the looming trade or one year deals scenarios constantly over their heads. Whoever they decide to sign I prefer some multi year stability for this young team.

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope nets season-high 34 points in win over Kings

Quote:
Feeling healthy and free of the legal burden that resulted in a 25-day sentence for a probation violation earlier this season, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope tied his career high with eight 3-pointers made and nearly became only the second Los Angeles Lakers player to make nine 3s in a game.

The 80 million is gone, never to return. If all the experts are right, then money is going to be tight this offseason. It’s doubtful Guys like KCP aren’t going to see major offers.

Loved his reaction over the Julius and 1 dunk against the Kings. He's not just playing for the next contract.

It's assumed that KCP is only here as a rental, but if LeBron does actually sign here, wouldn't be surprised if the Lakers re-sign KCP to a long term deal AKA the LeBron Tax, same thing the Cav's had to pay J.R. Smith & Thompson with the Cav's. Also, known as LeBron runs your team practically, so if he does come, won't be surprised KCP if re-signed due to the Klutch Sports affiliation.

We could only sign KCP to an exception if Lebron comes.

Decent game by KCP last night, he played with energy, even though he had his usual brain-farts.
He did have a double-double with 11 points and 14 big rebounds. He added 3 assists and 2 steals to boot.

KCP has strung together some pretty impressive games of late and tonight he delivered again. 18 points on 6-8 fg (75%) w/ 4 rebs.

I still think he's too inconsistent. If he keeps up what he's doing now for another 10 games then yeah we should keep him

He's actually been great for the last 10 games or so. Some people just will never admit that because they're afraid that the organisation will spend big money on him (which will not happen).

He was just starting to play well when that opposing player rolled over his Achilles. I think he came back too soon and it showed, but being a contract year he was trying to get back out ASAP. Now he's getting back up to that level again. Just very solid.

He must regret not taking that $80M/5yrs offer from Detroit. Even playing very well as he is, I don't see teams offering him more than $12M/yr.

KCP not having the green light to take some of those ugly shots is a great thing.

Hes been having to do less decision making out there and its shown in his last few games. Hes been playing well

No doubt. He had the misfortune of hitting FA a year too late after the market corrected itself. If he had cashed in, he'd probably be part of the buyers remorse group of FAs from that summer teams are now looking to dump. Would the Pistons have been able to make that trade for Blake if they were paying KCP all that money?

I'm sure he's feeling a lot less pressure now that the legal issue behind him. The injury slowed him too but he's playing really well right now.

No doubt that he is a pretty good basketball player and a good guy. He may be able to get $12-15 mil from some team desperate for guard help but not from the Lakers.
Although, depending on what happens this summer, I wouldn't mind if we re-signed him for MLE.

not if they renounce randle and not sign PG or anyone else for significant money.

actually, they can sign lbj, randle, and kcp.

it's possible. not just limited to exception

The Lakers have KCP, that is a huge plus, and I agree he will not be getting a 5yr/$80mil offers, which is actually great for the Lakers as he may want to stick around another season and sign another 1yr contract (for less).

Sure he can score, but he is not overly mistake=prone and his defense and rebounding are huge and while Hart can produce at approx. 80% of what KCP does, Hart coming off the bench help with the Lakers depth and bench scoring, so moving Hart into KCP's starting role make not be as great as it seems.
