KCP was a mess. His deflections and effort was nice, but I don't think I need 27 mins of him for a few deflections. His effort sadly doesn't consistently translate into solid defense. I really wish his mins get limited to sub 15, and am hoping once Kuz is back, this all gets cleaned up a bit. |

Can we trade him this season or is it still one of those contracts where he has to sign off? _________________ Previously LBJ23 |

We have poor ownership and management but were able to make a deal with Klutch to be their storefront. KCP is just one of those defective, high margin products you have to peddle when you make that kind of backroom deal (see poor man's Smith, JR). |

KCP is the worst player in the league for the amount of money he is making. I cant believe Pelinka succumbed to Rich Paul again and even gave him another no trade clause. |

Are you sure it wasn't "try PCP on Kawhi" instead? _________________ From 2-10 to the Western Conference Finals |

Talked it up?
Or just talked about doing it?
I'd be shocked if anyone with brains would "talk it up" |

A good head coach assigns each player a role. Someone has to have a role to be the defensive stopper. I think in this case it was most definitely a mistake, but I won't fault our plans until I know Kuzma was sat instead of KCP. This was not the case. Who else had a better chance if Lebron himelf didn't wanna defend Kawhi (Which we all know a great like Kobe would have, but we won't go there).
The issue here is Kuzma is hurt and we need a short term fill in at backup 3. We're going to use KCP, Maybe Dudley. Whatever. It's for the short term.
Giving KCP a role as a wing defender, I have no problem with that. Did anyone notice he only took 3 shots? I prefer this KCP over the other KCP any day of the week. Come playoffs all these efforts to work on defense and working on roles will pay dividends assuming AD and Lebron are healthy and play their best.
I just wonder what the Clippers would have looked like had Kawhi shot like Lebron, and Mo Williams have a so so night. That's what happened for us - our top 2 players shot the ball below par, borderline poorly. You won't win against a contender when your top 2 play like that. We are not built like the Warriors or a team like that, this a 2 superstar + supporting cast team. Fans ought to embrace it, because that's just how it's gonna be. This isn't a young group with 6 talented guys who can score 20 none of whom do it consistently and all we all talk about is potential. This isn't a 4 all-star team where if 2 guys shoot poorly, other 2 pick up the slack.
Think a different version of Kobe and Pau, think along those lines IMO. |

His destined to be a solid role player in the 3v3 league
He's not a very smart basketball player - kinda the anti-Danny Green. |

The same people who wanted LeBron guarding Kawhi in game 1 of the regular season are the same ones who would complain when he hardly has any energy in the 4th. The Lakers need to get a defensive sf |

I re-watched the highlights, and he actually was playing "ok" defense, believe it or not. There were some instances where he was covering him, putting a hand in Kawhi's face to contest the shot, etc. The problem is that Kawhi is just too big, strong and good. He looked like Michael Jordan yesterday.
I would have preferred that they tried Bradley or Green on KL...just to see if they'd have more success. Maybe they wouldn't, but you never know unless you try, and they didn't try. |

Green had good success against KL.
And KCP did give effort. He just should not be guarding legit SFs.
Probably can get away with it against weaker/backup SFs.
I think we just need KCP to grow a couple of inches. Hopefully his growth spurt kicks in this year.

Green was on him most of the game....KL just went off in that 2nd quarter stretch we put this bum on him |
