I thought I read someone say that we couldn't sign KCP until Nwaba cleared waivers or was claimed. I guess they were mistaken.

Non-factor. People sure get upset over nothing. He'll be long forgotten in a month.

You still need a bench in this league. He'd be great spark off the bench for defense and pushing tempo and finishing plays

Tomorrow Morning is 48 hours.

But probably 5 PM tomorrow "officially".

I'd bet they will, it was a calculated gamble.

Once he clears waivers they can simply tell him they want him back at the minimum. There wouldn't be any urgency if they needed a few days to finish up with KCP because he'd be a free agent and not bound by his current contract.

Hope we pick him back up

He's a good dude. Used to hoop with him at SMC (Santa Monica College) years ago, it's pretty surreal seeing him in the NBA now, especially playing with the Lakers.

Never would have thought the dude had that type of talent, but he's clearly put in hours of work. He'll always have a fan here for sure..

Maybe you just have more talent than you thought, so his talent wasnt that much better relatively

Come to the lakers!

Hope we can resign Nwaba if for nothing else but to beat the Celts in the SL on road to winning the tourney.

He was brought in by the Defenders GM Nick Mazzella who traded for him.

I was thinking that too. Wonder if he'd play if they resign him, probably I guess.

I thought he did an open tryout for the Defenders. Was he on another D-league team first?

I would have to look but I believe he was drafted by another team and we traded for him. I would assume there was some sort of pre-draft workout.

He was on Reno's team, which I believe is a Kings affiliate.

"When Nwaba didn’t get the call to join the D-Fenders, he decided to pursue other opportunities in the D-League. He started cold emailing coaches. His big break came at the Reno Bighorns’ tryout, for which he paid the customary $150 fee. Nwaba was invited to join the Bighorns for training camp. Before he could, however, he was traded during the D-League draft to the D-Fenders."

He PAID $150 to try out for the team. Now how can you not pull for a guy like that?
