Way too early. Liked some moves and hated others. Next year is when we find out if this front office can play the game. |

You have to give Magic and Rob and A. At least.
You must remember that they had the handicap of very bad previous FO decisions. Mosgov/Deng. Nash/Howard and loosing first round draft picks. Even to some extent Clarkson. A musical carousal of coaches.
And yet in 5 months the ship has turned around and there is hope.
They have performed magic. |

A for sure. No dumb contracts, no panic moves, set up nicely for an attempt at something big in 2018. Now its up to the coaches and players to improve |

Nash, Howard, Moz/Deng were disasters that the current FO inherited, I give an A,
The only thing regrettable was not extending an offer to the Logo!!!!! |

The DLO trade is an "F" because it was both unnecessary at this time and took away an opportunity to see how high his trajectory was going to be next year.
With regard to the rest of the moves, the FO has earned an "A". The draft was strong, the FA signing was really good considering our needs and the 2018 FA plan is left intact.
So, overall... I give the FO an "A-". _________________ A three headed monster... Jeannie, Pelinka, and Ham... another terrible season.

True- I almost forgot about that! HUUUUGE mistake. |
Jerry West is a mole planted by Magic Johnson across the hallway. When the time is right he will gift package us an asset much like he gave us Pau Gasol for Kwame Brown in 2008. |

The DLO trade is controversial, but we can't judge it until 2018. But for NOW, we got Lopez/Kuzma and then KCP, so they collectively make up for DLO this season. | again signing KCP to a 1 year deal worth a lot of money is not on the FO. its on KCP. is he willing to take a year to audition for the rest of the nba on the biggest auditioning stage? or will he sign elsewhere and take less money for a more for sure thing. there was nothing for the FO to sell him. its not like we got him for 3 years at a bargain(yet).
as far as the draft. they get an A for that. not drafting ball. that was obvious to anyone with a brain. the other pickups are what you have to give credit for. Kuzma alone is enough to grant you an A-. but throw in Bryant too. the scouts did their homework.
Getting rid of the mos contract and picking up lopez was an excellent trade. even if we had to give up DLO especially since we were already drafting a true pg. sure i wanted to see them together. but i do understand that DLO would never be a Great defender at SG..he's just not quick enough. |

I'd do grading today on more of a progress report basis (Pass/Fail) than with the traditional end-of-period range of A-F. I have a sense that some improvement overall was made to the roster, but the proof of that improvement must come on court. Taken in isolation of play and results, the FO moves are just of minor interest.

I didn't like the what we got for Lou Williams and DLO in return. I didn't like the trading of DLO. I'm not sure letting Jerry West walk away was a good move. I like KCP. I hate that they even consider Rondo. I do not want an aging LeBron next year while the Warrirors are still loaded. |

I give them a B- for now.
Good: the draft (live Kuzma), KCP signing, patience in FA, preserving cap space in 2018.
The bad: what we got back for DLO, not bringing back Jerry West as a consultant
If the capspace transform in PG13 + another very good player or PG13 + KCP and B. Lopez on reasonable deals than it's an A+
PS: to me C was neutral, B and above positive and D and below negative |

Can't help but chuckle at all the votes for A's.
Too early to pass judgement.
Grading the D-Lo trade: TBD
Will D-Lo mature and finally reach his potential?
Will Kuzma's impressive summer translate to the regular season?
Those are questions that need answers before you can give a grade.
How well Brook Lopez/Mozgov perform is irrelevant because their contracts were the catalysts in the trade. Russell and the first rounder (Kuzma) are the x-factors.
The Draft Picks of Lonzo, Kuzma, Bryant: TBD
You love what you've seen from the three of them so far, but the sample size is so small to gather anything meaningful.
The signing of KCP: A
I give it an A because it's a 1 year deal, and it makes them more competitive in the short term without mortgaging the future. No risk really. But my fear is that if we strike out on the big name FA's next off-season, plan B is to give KCP and/or Lopez the max. And that would be a disaster. |

Risks include a likelihood of player demanding an inflated followup contract, especially if he becomes productive or deemed simply a good "fit" player. I detest overspending.
B- overall so far. The Lonzo Ball drafting took no brains at all, IMO - so no special credit for that. I'm somewhat OK with Kuzma, but I'd have preferred they'd picked a defensive talent, Bell. _________________ “These GOAT discussions are fun distractions while sitting around waiting for the pizza to be served.”

Not a very informed position.
They had one of the best drafts in the league this year and have all kinds of flexibility going forward regardless of what happens with guys like LeBron going forward. _________________ Love, Laker Lanny |

A-
I love almost every single thing they've done (I support and understand the DLO trade, but just wondering if we could have gotten more). In addition to all the moves, I think it also can't be said enough the culture change they've brought in (e.g. the focus on excellence, the adherence to elite conditioning, etc.) and the buzz they've generated around the team.
The future is so much brighter than it was just 6 months ago, and the new FO is a big big part of that. |

If they sign two maxes in 2018, an A, if they don't, a D. Too early to grade since the DLO trade isn't complete until 2018. _________________ LakersGround's Terms of Service

No. If the Lakers compete for a championship they will get an A. Signing max players means nothing. |
