I hated on Lonzo after his first 2 games but I'm back on the hype train. I think he makes us special and will inflate the numbers of everyone in the starting unit.
I also agree with what everyone else is saying about how strong the West is now given all the FA movement to the west. Look at Millsap in Denver and the trifecta they got in Minnesota. We're still 2 or 3 pieces away from being something legit. But if Lonzo progresses as much as I hope, I see us battling for spots 8 through 10
Skip is being conservative. Teams are going to have nightmares about playing us. We will be making them look foolish.
In all seriousness, I can see many teams struggling to play at the Lonzo Lakers pace. Don't know how many wins that will translate to, but some teams will have major problems keeping up.

And when they are nice and tired we are going to pound them with Lopez. It sounds like Luke thinks we will go to him a lot based on some of his interviews.
My heart is with Skip but my mind agrees with Broussard. Realistically, 35 wins sounds about right. If we had a better back up PG situation and a couple more shooters I could see 8th seed. In my heart though, even with the current roster, I want 8th seed so bad.
I dont understand how Broussard thinks Utah, Portland and the Clippers are going to be so great. We should have a good chance of surpassing at least one of those teams.

You only play at that pace if you are getting stops. We have to defend first. _________________ RIP mom. 11-21-1933 to 6-14-2023.
I love how Broussard is like Minny made a mistake trading for Jimmy Butler and not moving up to get Lonzo. Just shows how many people are in agreement that Ball is a transcendent talent.

UCLA led the nation in scoring, the best offense in 12 years.
With a seemingly normal offense, the Lakers' SPL team scored more in the last 2 games than high scoring NBA reams do in 48 minutes (8 more).
Lonzo has 3 (4?) 10 assist games, and there's only been 1 previously. He's got the only
SPL triple double ever, missed another by 2 rebs, and the last one due to injury
Lakers SPL teams have looked crappy for years, but now everyone who plays fits into a well oiled machine. A pass 1st mentality has become cool.
Magic, who should know, said Lonzo's passing translates to the next level and I see no reason to believe it won't. His overall affect can't be measured by normal stastistical
standards. That's clear after a year of college and a summer of competition, so when will we acknowledge that the difference he keeps making will mean greater success than any other rookie in a long time?
He's lived up to up being called transcendent with major accomplishments in High School,
College, and now SPL. Transcendent players make major differences in their team's win
column.
His teammates will be better because of their own improvements and his presence. As a result, the Lakers will be far better collectively. The style they're playing will embarrass lots
of teams who can't stop them or keep up.
We're at the beginning of watching something very special. Later people will be asking
"who knew?"

Did you not see the court length passes off of an in-bounds after a made basket? I think they'll run with our without the stops...
I've never paid mind to either media guy. I think the Lakers don't look enviable as a playoff contender. The gap to close to reach a .500+ record in the West (terms of coaching, the play, the chemistry, the wins) - it feels altogether a pretty wide thing to bridge in one year.
I think 2 spots are opened, maybe 3 depending on if Pelicans continue to struggle with their two bigs. You would think Denver, Portland, Utah, Clippers have the heads up. But I've watched this game long enough to see enough teams on the brink who all of a sudden fall off the map again due to motivation, injury, etc, while a different team rises up.
Lakers can and will compete for those last 2 spots.

I think it's most likely that we're in the fight for the 8th spot... but we finish around 38-42 wins and fall a couple of games short. That would a significant improvement and would be a solid springboard into the off-season.
If we do crack 43 wins, though, we'd be a very entertaining and potentially tough out.
All Lonzo led teams do is exceed expectations. I didn't think there was a chance before Summer League but here he goes doing it once again. If the lakers somehow win 40+ games, does Lonzo get MVP votes?
It went from this team is worse than last year to now we might make the playoffs. Everyone is an expert and then they make a fool of themselves. Moral to the story is sit down, be humble.
