KIA Rookie Ladder

The NBA's KIA Rookie Ladder has two Lakers among the top three: Ball at #1 and Kuzma at #3. With two players currently ranked so high, it should be fun to track it the entire 2017-18 season.

Interestingly enough, the author states that the only reason that Kuzma was not an first team all-tournament was that the voting happened before the championship game.

The list on July 18 was Ball, Tatum, Kuzma, J. Collins, Swanigan, DSJ, Mitchell, Adebayo, Kennard, and Jackson.

I'm surprised Tatum didn't get 1st team either. But then again, I only watched the games with the Lakers. I'm hearing good things from this John Collins guy from ATL

Back on topic, I'm psyched for Lonzo and Kuzma. It would be funny if Kuzma ends up being ROTY over Ball.

And no one would complain about Melo had he been drafted by the Pistons before the 2004 season.

The ranking seems about right this time. I knew Zo & Kuz were trending upward.

Personally I would take Kuzma over Tatum (but that's just me)

John Wall, Blake Griffin, Damian Lillard also won MVP. It's a good start for Lonzo, he knows there's a lot of work ahead.

Oh no I was talking about Finals MVP for Kuzma, it's healthy to take a step back and realize the competition level all the same:

Jerian Grant, Jonathan Simmons, Ray McCallum, Ian Clark

Maybe not feel sad, but certainly feel a bit more grounded in reality. Kuzma had a fantastic summer league, but he is not going to step into the NBA and start scoring 20+ per night. It will take him, and all of the rookies, some time to adjust to the high level of competition. That said, it sure was nice to see him shoot so well from outside...

I honestly think there is an argument for Lonzo being #2.....only because I think there is an argument for Kuzma being #1.

Yeah, it's Summer league but doing well among those players is probably better than doing poorly. I feel that the club can be viewed as having been successful with the Kuzma pick so far (#27, let's remember), and more so if KK's a productive guy early on and for several years. Simmons comes to mind, pattern-wise. Sticking around and making the rotation for an end of first round selection is OK with me.

After seeing our high draft picks fizzle out in the SPL over the past few seasons, I think this is a good sign.

I have heard multiple national "analysts/media/talking heads" mention that they were more impressed by Ingram in his brief showing than any other player in Vegas.

In regards to 1st Team All Summer League snub......everyone on this board knows I am a Josh Jackson fan.....and I watched every game Jackson played in, and he did look mostly good and made the 1st Team. On no planet did Josh Jackson have a more impressive SL than Kuzma.

First time I'd ever seen Ingram look like a man among boys. He looked REAL good during that brief one game stint.

Very encouraging seeing the high regard for Ball, Kuzma, and even Ingram. I think Hart is another great addition, we'll see him more in September as well.

I feel real good about where we're at.

Finally! I waited years for Howard to give the Lakers a strong rookie ranking. I guess it was worth the wait. Now let's see if the Lakers can continue it through out the season.

Feels good to have your rookies play great in summer league, and not have that "oh no" feeling in the pit of your stomach. The last two summer leagues weren't as kind.

I am amazed how well they complimented each other. I can't wait to see them on the regular season team.
