Free agents still available include:

Ian Clark, Tyler Ennis, Leandro Barbosa, Isaiah Canaan, Trey Burke, Ty Lawson, Randy Foye, Brandon Jennings, Deron Williams and Rodney Stuckey.

There's also the possibility of a trade...could Jordan Clarkson be asked to step in? To me, JC does not fit the PG model for the new fast-paced, quick pass offense that we are running.

Who would you like to see as the back-up PG?

They said they wanted a veteran PG. Sounds like it's going to be Deron Williams.

Lakers right now are looking for players that mature and knows the game, willing to share the ball and not me-first attitude. I don't see any of that from the list.

Doesn't seem they want a SG in a PG's body type. Could be Deron Williams but my guess: Beno Udrih.

I am thinking the same player, Beno Udrih. Stan Van Gundy said he's been a coach role last season for Pistons. But I doubt he can play if Lonzo goes down.

I lile Barbosa. Wont mind limited minutes. Knows the system. Knows Luke. And offers a change of pace option in the backcourt.

I think I like Ennis too. Young and could be a long term backup PG option for us.

He played limited minutes last season but he played well in those minutes. If Lonzo got hurt, no he probably couldn't play full-time but no veteran mentor that we could sign would really be able to do that.

Curious if there has been any news on Ennis?

Thought he played well within the system last year. Seems like a inexpensive no- brainer to me.

What do the Lakers have left to spend now? Bi-annual exception, vet min and one more 2way contract. Correct?

Perhaps add two PGs as the final moves? Ennis and a combo guard like Clark or even Barbosa could work.

Deron Williams handled enough minutes last year but I vote Tyler Ennis.

The FO really effed up not signing Rondo as LB's backup and mentor. I watched some videos of Ian Clark and he's not a PG. He's a shooting guard. Deron William? That guy is done since Utah!

He would have been nice imo but they didn't (bleep) up. He just chose a starting role over a backup role.

Clarkson/Ennis/Caruso

Just stay away from old entitled vets that still think they are good

I prefer a younger line up too. But have concerns of the issues if Ball gets hurt or struggles. See Clarkson as backup SG. And the thought of starting PGs of Ennis and Caruso for any length of time seems like a huge risk.

If Denver wasn't overloaded with good young shooting guards, I would have tried trading Clarkson for Jameer Nelson + 2nd round pick. Nelson probably as good a mentor as any, and expiring contract, I think.

I wonder if we should give Greivis Vasquez a look.

How was the surgery you had in December 2015 different from the one you had in November 2016?

GV: In 2015, they removed bone fragments and cleaned out the ankle. But the truth is that I should have had the 2016 surgery to begin with. Sports medicine is one thing, general medicine is another. This is my opinion. And the general medicine doctor I went to was very experienced in this technique. He was able to give me a broader and more logical explanation. Had I done this in 2015, I would be playing by now.

By the end of February, they will remove the fixator and I’ll begin the normal rehab period. It will take four months. That means by May or June I will be running and playing basketball. In June or July, I hope to try out with several teams. If my ankle is at 70 or 80 percent by then, it will be enough to display my type of play. I know that I can help any team in the regular season and playoffs. I have done that before.
