What about a Clarkson? Or Hart?

Hart isn't a PG.

JC, both Magic/Luke have ruled out as PG. (Luke said during SPL that we only have 1 PG, and Magic has repeatedly said we are looking for a backup PG).

Given the options you all have mentioned, I think I would prefer Jordan Farmar.

Farmar has some decent passing skills, can shoot the 3, can penetrate, has championship experience, has the UCLA connection, is a local product, seems to have a good attitude and probably wouldn't demand a lot of playing time.

The way DWill just overnight became irrelevant really concerns me...as well as his attitude.

My only concerns with Farmar is do you think it matters that he is kind of a journeyman and hasn't been able to stick in the NBA all these years? Also, he seems to have hamstring problems.

Lonzo seems to get minor injuries a lot....the Lakers definitely need to get a back up who can also perform and keep the machine running, not some old vet on a "Mercy Contract" like MWP who couldn't produce when called on.

1) Farmar - will not cause problem if min is limited, good 3pt shooter and can sho the roles to Lonzo. Plus he is a former Lakers

2) DWill - still can shoot the 3, and a vet and seemed to accept his backup role now. Need to be in better shape to run this offense.

3) Ennis - I would like to have him does not have to be the backup vet that magic is talking about. He showed me he can play this game last year.

4) Rose - Just don't know if he will accept a bench role.

It's 2017 and we're still talking about Farmar?

Agree it slim Pickings out there. Plus we don't need too much time. We want Lonzo taking bulk of the min and grow this year.

There's also the possibility of a trade...could Jordan Clarkson be asked to step in? To me, JC does not fit the PG model for the new fast-paced, quick pass offense that we are running.

Who would you like to see as the back-up PG?

Unsigned options for the back up to Lonzo all look pretty uninspiring. I don't like any of 'em, but at this point Ian Clark seems the best of the unsigned bad options. I guess I assumed that Hart was the best option on roster at the moment.

But he's also 19, a little frail as his body needs more maturing. It would be wise to get a backup PG who could occasionally start and play 16-18mpg.

Randy Foye can hit 3s right? From what I remember he's more of a SG though I guess

I my guess is Brandon Jennings.

Ty Lawson second guess.

Beno Udrih.

not a great 3pt shooter for a PG (career 35%) but an excellent pick and roll player (75th percentile PPP per pnr on high volume)

veteran

The discussion continues to be about adding only one PG. Lakers could easily add two.

Give a younger player like Ennis, Clark or Marshall a part (or all) of the exception then add the "vet" (DWill or Barbosa) with the vet minimum.

Having the practical depth at every position to absorb injuries that inevitably occur over the season. The goal is to win games.

For the record, I would be fine with Ennis.

Jennings or Barbosa, who are also streaky shooters, would be okay.

As mentioned earlier, I like the idea of a flyer on KJ McDaniels with the last roster spot. 3-D type, athletic. Take a shot.

Jennings fits the style of play, but concern is that he can be a turnover machine, a chucker and he's a little loco.

Lawson, I thought he signed with team from China?

Kirk Hinrich if he is healthy would be a good mentor and play about 10-15 mins a night

Knight makes more than JC, so no. JC + Deng + Zubac for Knight + Chandler. Chandler has a year less on his contract than Deng and Knight and Chander and Knight's cumulative salaries next season are about $2M less than Deng + Clarkson's.

Had a knee injury at end of last year that was relatively minor. A month long injury. He should be healthy now.

Isn't Rose available? If so I'll take him since Maglinka look like they're trading Clarkson

He is as healthy as many 35-YO washed up vets are

They're looking for a veteran mentor. Udrih played well last year as a reserve in limited minutes(about 14 per game). He fits the mold of what they're looking for. There are younger guys they could go for that are more capable of absorbing a significant chunk of minutes if Lonzo gets hurt but they're more gunner SG in PG's body types. From what Magic/Pelink have said, that's not the type of guy they're targeting. Personally if it was me, I'd sign one of each. An Ian Clark type with the room exception and a Udrih/Farmar type for the minimum.
