That's exactly the number I had in mind too. With a shooter at center like Lopez, and the other parts fitting, offense should be fine. But IF we gel on defense, watch out!! |
I really wish that they will go after a defensive assistant |

Yeah, a little too late. Caught an HBO Real Sports segment about Singletary meeting with him for what he knew would be the last time. Bad stroke caused him to lose a lot towards the end. Poignant father-son type relationship between he and Singletary. Most of Da Bearssh thought he was the actual coach over Mike D. _________________ GOAT MAGIC REEL

Think the addition of KCPs intensity will make a big difference. Looking forward to seeing him and Ingram working together. Also Ball is not a one on one defender but his team defense and ability to anticaipate will blend well.
Lopez is fairly mobile and intelligent. Again not a defensive stalwart but improved. PF has some interesting options and depth.
Lakers still need to add a player or two but I think the potential overall could be scary. Hope that Clarkson can be a part of it. |
I think the pace we'll play at will tire a lot of teams out and effectively act as part of our defense.
Much like the NFL...it's not about stopping teams that contribute to wins as much as generating TOs.
We get a lot of steals and keep sending waves of fresh legs out there and the D will be greatly improved. _________________ "If You're Afraid To Fail...Then You're Probably Going To Fail."

46 Defense (or maybe 23 Defense for basketball) is what the Lakers need. Mind you, i'm not advocating the zone here, but Buddy was absolutely magical in '85. _________________ Starting Lakers Dynasty6.0! NOW!!

His weakness far outweight his strengths. He had probably less impact on the game than Nwaba and Nwaba was relegated to layups dunks and defense. |

Offensively, if he can consistently hit the 3, I think Clarkson could score around 20PPG in 30+ minutes next to Zo. However, two things - (1) if Clarkson doesn't play D, his offense wont' matter, especially because KCP may be just as good or better offensively next to Zo as Clarkson anyway and (2) because KCP is here (making no mention of Hart and a FA vet back up PG), Clarkson may not get the minutes nor the consistent role to show his stuff anyway. _________________ LakersGround's Terms of Service

Yeah but who wouldn't? |
Any player who hasn't shown a proclivity to play well off ball.
Players who I would expect to thrive would be athletic slashers that can hit from outside.
I wouldn't expect a pure spot up shooter to 'thrive' as much with Ball since he's just standing around the line anyway. |

I think they'll have their moments. They'll have the potential to beat any team, but not every night. Sort of like the first 20 games last year. |

A spot up shooter usually thrives when the ball moves - defenders chase/get out of position and when it rotates to the shooter he is wide open. _________________ On Lakersground, a concern troll is someone who is a fan of another team, but pretends to be a Lakers fan with "concerns". |
