There could be better lineups, the data will tell us. I also think our best lineup will include Bogut.

Bogut doesn’t even expect to play in every game and you have him starting?

Preseason starts soon.

About the only things I see sticking out badly in any LGer's suggestions about the expected roles, rotations, or time spent on court for anyone regards the five man slot.

I see folks expecting minutes-per-game at center for Randle or Nance. I don't see that coming to pass.

I think that all indications now point to the club's plan to not pursue "small ball" (using a micro-center or an undersized center) this season, at least to the extent that the health of the four main, natural centers permits anything otherwise. I see Nance and Randle competing for time at the PF slot with Kuzma, each playing alongside another bigger man at center all season.

It's not like I'm giving him a ton of minutes and on top of that his last injury was only fractured leg it shouldn't affect him in 2018. Lopez's injury history is just as bad I would rather come back from a fracture than deal with back issues.

In 2016 he had the highest rpm on this team and the highest drpm in the game. In fact he has been a top 3 drpm his whole career. I want to give the guy who puts up the highest RPM a chance on the court.

Lopez had the best rpm on the team in 2017 (Bogut only played 30 games) so I still want to give him minutes too but i don't see why they both can play 24m each.

People on this forum have their minds made up before knowing anything about a player. Last summer when I defended Lou and said he was the best player I was laughed at until everyone saw what I saw and I think the same thing will happen with Bogut.

So we really expect the team to play out dated ball? Showtime, no small ball. What a disaster if it comes to pass.

I think its good we can put up a death line up aginst gsw. But is also nice that we can go big twin towers against the NOP.

Everything I laid out is only a blue print. When the analytic results of the line ups start coming back halfway through the season the data should tell us what line ups work together.

Personally, I interpreted the Bogut signing as insurance against Lopez's injury history, but yeah I'm calling the carry of four 7'0" centers a not-so dated a concept. It's the Warriors who can pull off the small ball unit with their shooters and defensive interchangeabilities around the horn. The 2017-18 Lakers have nothing even remotely close to the concept on the roster this year. If one is going to play to strengths, play to your team's strengths. It could be a worse disasterfor the Lakers to try going small ball, right ?

Joining the party a bit late:

Ball (30)/Ennis (12)/Clarkson (6)
KCP (30)/Clarkson (10)/Hart (8)
Ingram (33)/Kuzma (8)/Deng (4)/Brewer (3)
Randle (24)/Nance (18)/Deng (4)/Kuzma (2)
Lopez (25)/Bogut (11)/Zubac (10)/Nance (2)

It's likely to be all over the map depending on opponents and injuries to our centers.

KCP will lead the team in minutes per game. Part of that is positional (Clarkson is objectively awful), the other is staying in good graces with his agent.

16 min for Clarkson? Nah he's gonna be on full display to get shopped.

No, the NBA is all about matchups. Our centers are too slow footed to match up with other small ball lineups. We will need Randle and/or Nance at center to do that.

And I agree about Bogut as Lopez injury insurance.

come on, Clarkson will be getting significantly more than 16 minutes. Randle will get more than 24 minutes, and Ball will get less than 30 minutes.

How? What position?
Doubt he starts over BI or Julius.

Lonzo (30), Clarkson (10), Ennis (8)
KCP (28), Clarkson (12), Hart (8)
BI (28), Kuzma (12), Brewer (8)
Randle (24), Nance (20), Kuzma (4)
Lopez (24), Bogut (12), Zubac (12)

Bogut and Zub will be fighting for the majority of back up minutes. Depends on Luke going with defense or offense or who ever plays better. I like Bryant's ability to run and also hit from outside, but still young. Kuzma plays very well w Lonzo. Runs and hits w range. I'd like to see how he plays w Ingram as well. I think Ennis, Hart, and Brewer get spot minutes. Not gonna play all every game. 9 or 10 player rotation I'm thinking.

Lopez (28) | Randle (10) | Nance (10)
Randle (22) | Nance (16) | Kuzma (10)
Ingram (34) | Kuzma (6) | Brewer (8)
KCP (32) | Clarkson (16)
Lonzo (30) Clarkson (10) | Ennis (8)

That's what I think will be our most effective players this year... I do think that Zu or Bogut could gets mins at C against some team and it would look more like:

Lopez (28) | Randle (10) | Zu or Bogut (10)
Randle (22) | Nance (26)
Ingram (34) | Kuzma (6) | Brewer (8)

Also, it'll be interesting to see if Hart gets any mins. If so, the backcourt could look more like:

KCP (32) | Clarkson (8) | Hart (8)
Lonzo (30) | Clarkson (18)

I think we'll likely be playing small ball lineups at center with Randle or Nance as the center for at least 10 minutes a game. So there's probably only like 36-38 total minutes for Lopez, Zubac, and Bogut combined. I'd guess Brook gets about 29-30 of those. Pickings will be slim for Zubac and Bogut.

This is the rotation that I usually run in NBA 2K. Just a video game I know. No Brewer, Bogut, or Deng. Think they should play here and there during the season. But I don't really care about their old asses to play them.

1st quarter:
Lonzo KCP BI Randle Lopez for 8 minutes
Lonzo Clarkson Kuzma Nance Randle for 4 minutes

2nd quarter:
Clarkson Hart Kuzma Nance Lopez for 4 minutes
Lonzo Clarkson BI Kuzma Nance for 4 minutes
Lonzo KCP BI Randle Lopez for 4 minutes

3rd quarter:
Lonzo KCP BI Randle Lopez for 8 minutes
Clarkson Hart Kuzma Nance Zubac for 4 minutes

4th quarter:
Clarkson Hart Kuzma Nance Zubac for 4 minutes
Lonzo KCP BI Randle Lopez for 8 minutes

On Twitter today, I saw that one of the Kamenetzky brothers said that he doesn't think Deng will be in the rotation.

(And there will be much rejoicing in Laker Land if this comes to pass.)

I'd really like Deng to redeem himself actually. I think a 2015-2016 Deng at PF could really help this team get some wins. If he's back in shape and can get back to that, I'd like to see him get some playing time. If so, my ideal rotation would be something like this -

PG: Ball (30) / Clarkson (18)
SG: KCP (30) / Clarkson (12) / Hart (8)
SF: Ingram (30) / Kuzma (18)
PF: Randle (30) / Deng (18)
C: Lopez (28) / Nance (20)

More likely, however, it will probably be something like this -

PG: Ball (32) / Ennis (16)
SG: KCP (28) / Clarkson (20)
SF: Ingram (32) / Kuzma (16)
PF: Randle (32) / Kuzma (8) / Nance (8)
C: Lopez (30) / Nance (18)

Bench: Bogut, Deng, Brewer, Hart, and Zubac.
G-League: Blue, Bryant and Caruso.

I'll say this, regardless of the rotations, if Randle, Nance and Ingram have all improved their 3pt shots, we'll have legit 3pt shooters at every position on the floor at all times.

I'd be rejoicing, but for a different reason from others.
I think Deng is gonna bounce back this year.
But he won't get minutes, because Kuzma and Larry will be better.

If Lopez is healthy I wouldn’t be surprised to see Bogut go 3-4 games without playing.
