Is anyone else watching this show? Season 1 was great! The new season is a little slower but that's to be expected however, I'm hopelessly hooked!

(Couldn't find the original Preacher thread so feel free to merge).

Been watching it from the start. Except for the pilot episode, I thought season 1 moved slower. I guess the pilot set a high expectation for action that's only since been used sparingly.

I'm enjoying season 2 more. That car karaoke scene in the season opener was classic! I also liked that episode with the angel who couldn't die.

Joseph Gilgund (Cassidy) is an absolute scene stealer.

Been watching it since episode 1 as well.

And I agree with N-O. Season 2 feels faster and more exciting to me. Out of all the shows on TV. It is the most fun to watch.
Season 1 not as much. But Season 2 is so refreshingly spontaneous and funny. Along with more action and higher stakes.

I would probably recommend someone whose never seen it to actually skip season 1, since it's not necessary to understand Season 2 really.

They bungled up season 1. The entire season up to the last episode went wildly off base. For perspective, IIRC, the church explosion happened in Issue 1 of 66. They took 10 episodes to get there...introducing to us charactesr that are completely and utterly irrelevant. Ejpisode 10 from Season 1 should have been a 2 hour premier with the first hour setting up the events in that episode. They could and should have hooked the audience from the start and instead tried to get cute. Ep 10 of S1 and onward has been stellar.

Naw, I wouldn't skip on season one. You'd miss out on things such as why Jesse became a preacher and how Eugene ended up in hell.

Was I the only one who thought Herr Starr was Joseph Gilgun in a different costume?

I love Preacher and enjoyed S1 a lot too. Cassidy is hilarious. I think S1 is good to see to introduce and develop both he and Tulip's story with Jesse. There is a scene in a later episode of S1 between a not so well off Cassidy and Jesse that is scary and then moving. Felt essential to see that going into S2 to understand them.

Never read the comic though so it's all new.

Was that part about the descendant of Christ in the comic books? I have to admit I found it a bit shocking.

This most recent one felt aimless so I fell asleep. I didn't find it shocking.

That part that shocked me was how far the show is willing to push religious humor. However, I just read the descendant part was in the books and the show even toned it down.

I loved season 1, looking forward to catching up to season 2. I've got a tremendous backlog of shows to wade through.
