So then that same writer is betting on the Suns to win more games than the Lakers this season, I presume?

Yet every resource from ESPN to Vegas have the Lakers winning 10-15% more games than the Suns....

The Suns also have a good core of young players, we will see what each team does to fortify them.

Actually, ESPN projected Portland at 43.8 wins and us at 33 wins.

But Vegas had us over them, and by way more than 15%. In July, they had us at about 35 wins and Portland at about 22 wins.

I've seen other projections similarly all over the place. Probably because both us and the Sun are depending on the improvement of young players, there really isn't much agreement.

Suns projected with less wins than Lakers next year. Rebuild not going too well. Do they plan to add 2 max players too?

I would without hesitation.....not only would Jackson be on a rookie contract for years, but he is simply a more superior talent compared to Randle.

It is interesting that the writer went out of their way to bring up Timofey Mozgov, Luol Deng, Byron Scott, and even Roy Hibbert and mysteriously forgets to make any mention whatsoever of Brandon Knight (out for the season) and his atrocious contract on their books for another 3 years or the fact that they traded the Lakers unprotected 2018 pick for him and Kendall Marshall.

But why would a writer from phoenix care about how the Lakers re-build is doing? L.A. clicks?

His hook is saying that the Sun rebuild began when they traded Nash to the Lakers. It's just some off-the-top-of-the-head ramblings from a reporter on a small paper saying "rah rah" for my team. Filler stuff you dash off in 15 minutes.

Sounds like this guy is part of the "I'm a lazy sports media journalist for a newspaper but I will (bleep) about having no job as the industry shrinks" group.

Actually, I think he's just a fan who writes for a fan team site for free. I don't believe he's a professional journalist. And by the standards of what he's doing and what the site is, his stuff is fine.

Getting worked up about it makes about as much sense as a Phoenix fan getting worked up by something a Laker fan posted about their team on a thread in LG.

Thanks for the info

Personally I'm not worked up at all. There are a lot of hacks out there, I'll take him for what he is - just a fan boy with no real analytics or deep analysis to back it up

Agreed. The Max player thing is a pipe until and IF it becomes reality for
the Lakers. At this point it just riding that we have and try and make the most of it. The Lakers with lots of rookies should get spanked pretty often, but the
silver lining is, improving day by day.... it'll be good if you have patience, if
not, it'll be an eternity.

So I use Google news and I have a feed set up for news on the Lakers.

And this afternoon this article popped up about how wonderful the Suns are doing and about how Nance, Randle, Clarkson are all solid players but have maxed out their potential, how Ball is just a bad jump shot away from being the next Rajon Rondo and how the jury is still out on Ingram, Zubac, Kuzma, Bryant and Hart.

https://valleyofthesuns.com/2017/08/10/phoenix-suns-rebuild-going-better-los-angeles-lakers/

The article states that Booker, Bender, Chriss, Warren, Jackson, Bledsoe et all are so much more promising that what the Lakers have.

The weird part is, Lonzo is the guy that helps set the LAL roster apart from the Suns. But otherwise, yeah, I look PHX crop, especially Warren, Bender, Jackson.

I am not sold on Bender or Chriss yet. Chriss is too inefficient to me. Lots of talent though. Bender I see the potential but he can't seem to put it together ala Wes Johnson.

Chriss just lacks any kind of real hoop IQ. Bender, shows the flashes, and is considerably younger than when Wesley Johnson entered the league. Unfortunately Bender gained some muscle, which reduced his switchability onto guards in PnR play. But he ideally has the skill sets to be a stud on offense as a tertiary option player/versatile defender.

You cut my quote where I mentioned Randle being a free agent. I'd trade Randle for Jackson right now too, but only because of their contract situation. Otherwise, if their contracts were equal, I'd keep Randle. I think Jackson is a Cedric Ceballos/Andre Igoudala clone.

He tainted himself, but LA was rumored to want him bigly in whatever year he came out.

I like J Jax, but he sure had a depressed "I wanted the Lakers" demeanor on Draft nite, even in the post draft group Nike uniform pic, he looked as glum as Fultz (who doesn't emote in the first place).

And Laker fans here would probably argue that we have a better young core than Philly and Minnesota. Everyone is going to be biased towards their team.

Lakers are 1 of the up and comers in the NBA, they have a Christmas showdown with a rising team the Wolves while the Suns probably aren't even spoken in the same breathe of rising teams.

Lakers are very close to competing for titles, Suns are probably several years away.

Nahh, I wouldnt either. Booker is a star in the making, but, so are Ball and Ingram. I think Booker would be a poor mans Klay next to Lonzo.

He was a Celtic.

Rick Fox was a Celtic player as well. Dude does not get enough credit around here.
