Wouldn't be surprised if Isaiah is riding the pine at crunch time.

Also wouldn't be surprised if the Celtics aren't as good as they are hyped up to be. They overachieved last year. They lost their 2 best defenders in Bradley/Crowder. They haven't really solved their biggest weakness in rebounding. Will be interesting to see how good Tatum is.

He is bad. I live near the Philly market. 76ers fans loathe him and he just doesn't give any effort. No motor. No care.

The Cavs got great value in the tight spot they were in.

Irving is only a little better than IT and Jae is awesome plus a Nets 1st.

For Boston they get the best player in the trade but gave up a ton of assets.

Boston will easily beat the Cavs this year. They're going to the Finals.

The Cavs made a bad deal, Thomas is a liability. You pay him and lose or he walks and you've lost Kyrie for a pick and a replaceable player. That's not a great deal.

Without Lebron they are not going anywhere anyways.
That is who the front office is really trying to keep.

not a bad haul, that Nets pick is nice. Can Tatum, Hayward, KI share the ball?

Depends on how you feel about Crowder. If you rate him highly, then you could argue that Cleveland actually got better. While also giving themselves a chance at a decent long term situation with the Nets pick.

As for Kyrie...he gets the chance to be the ''man'' without having too much put on his plate in the present day ( GH ) and the future ( JT ).

Good deal for both sides.

Cavs compete this year and have a future if LBJ leaves.
Celts compete now and can build on core.

Regardless. (bleep) the Celtics.

TI had the 6th highest orpm (5.7) in the league last season and almost the same rpm as Irving. Jae was the the 5th highest rpm (3.9) of all small forwards. Plus a Nets 1st I see this as a win.

Cavs are following a rpm based way of thinking and we will see how it plays out

Wow, this is one of the rare times where a trade for a superstar player actually nets equal value.

Honestly makes a lot of sense for both sides. The Cavs get a player in IT that can mostly (if not completely) negate the loss of Kyrie, and he's expiring, which is perfect if LeBron leaves. They get the Nets pick, which is HUGE value. And they they get a solid starting wing in Crowder. Couldn't think of a better deal for them, quite honestly.

For the Celtics, you get rid of IT who was going to be extremely expensive and likely not sustainable -- His "prime" window never quite matched up with their youth. And then you cash in an asset in the Nets pick that you know had to be cashed in in the near future anyways. Kyrie is perfect for them. He's basically a younger, better, taller IT.

I'd say the Cavs won this trade, just because they got a great haul for a guy that requested a trade, which almost never happens. But the C's got the best player.

Traded to a conference rival at that....which makes trades like this pretty rare.

Great trade for both teams, part of the reason Lakers sucked ass is cause they got nothing for either Howard or Pau. Sad this team had to go through several years of tanking to recover

If Kobe wasn't trying to hang on at the end they would have started the rebuild sooner and traded those guys.

Trade Number for Melo. Sign Wade after buyout. Enough to keep Lebron in CLE?

I'm thinking this deal works for both teams. For the Celt's this was kind of like a salary dump. They probably didn't think IT was worth a max deal and IT didn't sound like he was going to give a discount. They had to throw in some sweeteners, but they got Kyrie back and Crowder was redundant.

Cavs got a #1 pick and Crowder, but had to take a rental in IT. They could trade IT, once they get a feel where he stands. Might not get a lot, but I don't think he was a central part of the deal.

I don't know what some of you are smoking, clear win for the Cavs here (ESPECIALLY given how their hand was forced and how other teams got much poorer returns in similar situations this summer), though obviously the Celtics also got what they needed - finally cashed in some assets for a legit All-Star / borderline superstar in his prime. But the main thing is that Cleveland now has a safety net of sorts if Lebron leaves and flexibility. And as far as getting equal value back for a star, they did as well as any team has in recent years, and may actually be at the top of the list.

The option is there to pay IT if he balls out and they want to retain him beyond the year to keep fans in the seats (with Love and 2018 Nets' 1st rounder flanking him), but they can just as easily blow it up and let him walk, trade Love for more assets, and build around youth (with a likely tank year in 2019). They're set up pretty decently for the short and long term now, which is way more than you could say 12 hours ago.

The inclusion of that Brooklyn 2018 has me thinking the Cavs made out like absolute bandits.

Great trade for the Celts, except for one thing. We know who KI is now. Sooner or later, he will hold his new team hostage.
