What's truly laughable are the number of schmucks complaining about the Lakers who act as if they really believe their team's FO's and billionaire owners don't tamper. Whoever is calling the shots at Indy (I assume Prichard) couldn't handle the idea that Indy is not a desired location for his biggest star player, he let his own ego get the best of him to the point he sabotaged his own team's best interests for a crappier deal offered by OKC and felt snitching on the Mintz connection would be just revenge. Knowing full well how all FO's and agents interact, especially when they have clients in common.
Yeah, sure. Pelinka needs to be very careful.
Meanwhile, if the billionaire owner of the Nuggets lets LeBron have one of his expensive yachts for some fun in the summertime, nobody raises an eyebrow. |

It'll be interesting to see if there's some sort of karmic justice in the future for Indy like what happened to McFail and the Joe Smith tampering. The agents involved haven't really been heard much again. One of them was considered the next David Falk, but like Falk, has faded away into obscurity. Too bad it hasn't happened in other sports. Would love to see Scott Boras fade away, but I respect the work he does. He's a brilliant negotiator. |

Don't forget that the Lakers need opponents - if the Raptors go under, that hurts the Lakers because they lose the T.O market from the TV deal, they lose buyers for NBA merchandise, etc.
NBA teams are not sole proprietorships. They are members of an association - essentially 30 equal partners. Why would you participate in a partnership where you couldn't make any money? The Lakers/Knicks don't make substantially more revenue than other teams because they're inherently smarter or better business people. They make more $$$ because they have the largest markets and the most access to customers. Their reward for having the biggest markets/most profits is that they get the biggest pieces of the pie - a crappy Lakers season will net the Buss family 30-to-50 times the profit that OKC will make in a playoff season - and that is AFTER profit sharing.
Don't hate on the small market owners for getting profit-sharing. Hate on them for being idiots who don't realize that a championship-contending Lakers team is the best way to generate profit for the entire league.

I used to really like Peter Vecsey on TV you know when he would come on the halftime shows during the game and stuff like that. What on earth happened to him?! He has seemingly lost his mind and become total tabloid guy.

I can tell you one thing about Prichard, he will never make a good trade with the Lakers in his lifetime. And there will be more than a few players who snub him over this. He just limited their access to any success in this league.
