The world has lost yet another great musical talent. I really loved the sound of Steely Dan.

RIP, Mr. Becker.

I'd rather have an icepick shoved slowly into my head than listen to Steely Dan's pretentious chamber music parody of rock and roll, but sorrybfor his family and friends.

Steely Dan, Doobie Brothers, Chicago... great music to chill to when out on an evening drive.

RIP

Great rock-jazz band of the 1970's. Now Walter Becker is "Home At Last". RIP

They never pretended to be anything other than what they were. A studio band who blended jazz, rock, R&B for well laid out instrumentals and lyrics that were sometimes sarcastic and biting and sometimes though provoking. And they achieved considerable critical and popular success amongst fans and peers, while being one of the pivotal bands of the 70's.

Lost another legend of music.

Toast one to a rocker first and also a yacht rocker.

Didn't give a damn about Steely Dan in my earlier years, but you catch it
enough and it grows on you.

That's what happened.

Bye.

Listening to them is dirty work and you won't do it again.

Oh I was joking with my response, if that face wasn't clear. And you did say sorry for his family and friends. I didn't think your response was out of line, since you added that in. It's OK to not like someone's music, and it takes a lot to offend me anyway.

But for the love of Michael McDonald, anytime you can get Mr. McDonald himself singing backup on some impeccably played bluesy/jazzy rock, yeah, I'm into it. Naturally, that's why I like "Peg" so much.

Oh no, man this is just becoming a trend as the titans of music start to age.

Really unique band with a lot of memorable tunes.

RIP.

I saw Gov't Mule at the Wiltern on Tuesday. They always have great guests come out and this time they covered Steely Dan's "Dirty Work" with Jimmy Vivino, Scott Paige & Jeff Young (Steely Dan's keyboardist). Just one greta moment in an amazing set:

(Now if I can just find a clip of Warren and Eric McFadden doing "Maggot Brain" I'd be truly happy)
