I hope you are feeling better, and continue to improve. I just saw this thread by Golden Throat, so I'm sorry I'm a little late. You and I have both been on Lakers ground a long, long time, and I've always enjoyed and learned from the articles you've written, as well as your posts.

Wow. Finally read this today. Thanks for the amaIng,.kind words. Turns out it's pneumonia and valley fever at the same time. Spent 12 days in the hospital but I am hope, granted, with a long road ahead building up my lungs and appetite. I'm very grateful for everyone's thoughts and prayers. It is especially meaningful to me.

I have 3 follow up Dr. Appointments. Apparently this was one of the worst cases of pneumonia they had ever seen. My X-rays look ridiculous.

Wow. I paused when I read it was pneumonia of all things. I knew it had to be really severe for someone your age to actually be hospitalized because of it. I seem to recall from somewhere, maybe an LG group pic, that you're fairly young. But that's good, if true. You probably have a good prognosis for full recovery now that you're over the worst part. You have a war story now. Ugh at 12 daze in the hospital. That sucks just to ponder it. Feel better, man.

Jeez Mike, you must be a kindred spirit. I had my own bout with pneumonia and valley fever in fifth grade waaaaay back when, which led to pericarditis. Achieved close to a complete recovery within six weeks and no lingering effects months later. Hang in there buddy !

I remember going through a very bad case of pneumonia my newlywed wife and I were trying to treat, unknowing that there was a bacterial infection, strep I think it was, attacking me in my weakened state and going undiagnosed for a few days. With each new day the fever just went higher, 105+, more dizzy, and my lungs got worse. I was so. Effing. Sick.

Getting that second infection treated was a turning point. I'll never forget the moment I realized my fever was finally breaking and my temperature dropped to 'only' 103. What a weird thing to celebrate!! But it was that kind of a battle. The worst of the flue bugs I've had don't even begin to compare. A double whammy infection hiding behind a bad case of pneumonia was BY FAR the sickest I've ever been.

12 days hospitalized - Valley Fever on top of pneumonia - dang that's nasty. Real glad you're back home!! I hope with each new day the lungs recover more and you feel better and better.
